FOX PURMAX® 1K FS601 is a polyurethane-based, single-component, UV-resistant, low-viscosity liquid waterproofing material with high permanent elasticity, developed for waterproofing and protection. Thanks to its single-component formulation, it can be applied easily without complex mixing procedures. With a high elongation at break (600%) and heat resistance up to 80°C, it delivers long-lasting performance under demanding environmental conditions. The product can be applied by brush, roller or airless spray and provides excellent adhesion to concrete surfaces. Surface preparation with suitable FOX EPOTHANE® series primers is required prior to application. A 60 g/m² reinforcement mesh is used between coats to enhance the mechanical strength of the system.

Product Description
FOX PURMAX® 1K FS601 is a polyurethane-based, single-component, UV-resistant, low-viscosity liquid waterproofing material with high permanent elasticity, developed for waterproofing and protection. Thanks to its single-component formulation, it can be applied easily without complex mixing procedures. Key Benefits
- Single-component formulation requires no on-site mixing, speeding up the application process.
- UV resistance preserves colour and mechanical properties on exterior surfaces exposed to sunlight for extended periods.
- High elongation at break (600%) and elasticity bridge cracks caused by substrate movement.
- Can be applied by brush, roller or airless spray; adapts to different site conditions.
- Adhesion strength to concrete of >2 N/mm² creates a firm and durable waterproofing layer.
- Suitable for a wide range of applications including terraces, roofs, tunnels, bridges and car parks.
Advantages
- Easy and fast application due to single-component formulation.
- Resistant to UV radiation.
- Can be applied by brush, roller or airless spray.
- High elasticity and flexibility.
- Excellent adhesion to concrete.
- Excellent mechanical properties.
- High adhesion strength.
- Impermeable to liquids.
- Excellent crack-bridging properties even at low temperatures.
- Resistant to ponding water on terraces.
Usage Areas
- Terraces, balconies and all wet areas
- Roofs and garden terraces
- Planter box waterproofing
- Positive-side waterproofing of foundations and retaining walls
- Tunnels
- Collection tanks
- Ornamental ponds
- Roof gutters
- Underground water tanks
- Car park roof terraces
- Waterproofing and protection of bridge, deck and stadium concrete
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation – Concrete Surfaces
Oil, grease, fuel and paraffin residues must be removed; the surface must be completely freed of release agents, cement residues, loose particles and cured membranes. Surface irregularities and corners must be repaired with FOX MORTAR FC188 T repair mortar to form a fillet of at least 4 cm radius. Surface cracks must be filled with FOX PURSEAL PS600 polyurethane mastic. Concrete surfaces must have a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm², a minimum tensile strength of 1.5 N/mm², a maximum moisture content of 4% and a minimum substrate temperature of +5°C.
- 2
Surface Preparation – Asphalt Surfaces
The asphalt surface must be cleaned with a water jet. For applications subject to vehicle traffic, the load-bearing capacity of the asphalt must be appropriate for the loads in service. The asphalt surface must be shot-blasted so that at least 60% of the aggregates are exposed.
- 3
Priming
The surface must be primed with the appropriate FOX EPOTHANE® series primer (see Primer Selection Table) according to the surface condition. Ensure that the substrate temperature is a minimum of +5°C. FOX PURMAX® 1K FS601 application must be carried out over the primer within the specified application window.
- 4
Mixing
Since FOX PURMAX® 1K FS601 contains pigments and fillers, the product must be thoroughly mixed within its own container using an electric mixer at 300–400 rpm and an epoxy/polyurethane resin mixing paddle until a homogeneous colour is achieved and no product remains on the bottom or sides of the container. Avoid over-mixing to minimise air entrainment.
- 5
Waterproofing Application
FOX PURMAX® 1K FS601 is applied in a minimum of two coats by roller, brush or airless spray. When applying by roller or brush, a waiting period of at least 8 hours and no more than 24 hours between coats is required. After the 1st coat, a 60 g/m² reinforcement mesh is applied; the 2nd coat is then applied.
- 6
Tool and Equipment Cleaning
Tools and equipment used must be cleaned immediately after application with solvent or polyurethane thinner. Once FOX PURMAX® 1K FS601 has cured, it can only be removed from the surface by mechanical means.
Application temperature must be a minimum of +5°C and a maximum of +35°C. Application must not be carried out outside this range.
After application is complete, the coating must be protected from direct water contact for at least 24 hours. If water contact occurs, softening and blistering will develop on the coating; the coating will lose its properties and must be completely removed and reapplied.
Relative air humidity must be a maximum of 80%. Attention must be paid to dew point and condensation.
The substrate temperature must be at least +3°C above the dew point.
Concrete surfaces to be coated with epoxy/polyurethane must be at least 3 weeks old prior to application; a vapour barrier layer must be provided for slabs on grade.
Mixing must always be carried out with an electric mixer at 300–400 rpm and an epoxy/polyurethane resin mixing paddle. Failure to use the specified mixing paddle will entrain air into the product, causing air bubbles on the coating.
Materials to be used should be brought to the application site 1–2 days in advance and allowed to acclimatise to ambient conditions. In cold weather, containers should be conditioned at +20°C – +25°C before use.
Rain, dust, wind, animals and insects must be prevented from entering the area while the coating is still fresh.
The product must be stored between +5°C and +30°C, away from direct sunlight, in a cool and dry environment. Shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture.
Open flames near storage and application areas are dangerous. Areas must be ventilated.
Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
Consumption figures are given for ideal conditions assuming an ambient and substrate temperature of +20°C. Consumption will increase on uneven surfaces and in cold weather conditions.
The above technical values are given at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the time; lower temperatures extend it.
