Product Description
FOX AQUAROOF SR is a ready-to-use, fibre-reinforced, modified elastomeric resin-based waterproofing material. With a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) of 107 per ASTM E1980, a solar reflectance (SR) of 85% and an emittance value of 91%, the product significantly reduces solar heat absorption on roof and terrace surfaces, lowering the building's interior temperature and delivering energy savings. It meets the requirements of Principles 2.2 and 8.2 under EN 1504-2:2004 (SRI test report reference no: ETR-22-0612). With a Shore A hardness of 75 and an elongation at break of ≥900%, its high flexibility provides excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates. Thanks to its water-based formulation, FOX AQUAROOF SR is easy to apply and can be applied as a single-component product by roller or spray.
Advantages
- Due to its high SRI (Solar Reflective Index) value, it reflects far more solar radiation than a dark-coloured coating, reducing solar heat absorption of the roof/terrace surface.
- Helps earn LEED credits by reducing the heat island effect on roofs.
- Lowers the building's interior temperature and provides energy savings.
- Water-based.
- High dirt resistance.
- UV resistant.
Advantages
- Because its SRI (Solar Reflective Index) value is high, it reflects far more sunlight than a dark-coloured coating and thus reduces the solar heat absorption of the roof/terrace covering.
- Helps earn LEED credits by reducing the heat island effect of roofs.
- Lowers the internal temperature of the building and saves energy.
- Water-based.
- High resistance to soiling.
- UV resistant.
- Retains its elasticity permanently and adapts to different surfaces.
- Provides high adhesion.
- Single-component; easily applied by roller.
- Forms no seams.
Usage Areas
- In exterior applications, both horizontal and vertical
- On large-span reinforced concrete terraces
- On sloped terrace roofs
- Over existing slate-chip membranes, ceramic, and metal roof coverings
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
All surfaces to be treated must be sound, free from any oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint and bitumen residues that could impair adhesion, with all loose particles removed and dry. Surface defects on uneven concrete surfaces should be repaired using FOX MORTAR FC188 T or FOX BASEMOR FC205 repair mortars. FOX TRIPLETAPE 120 chamfer tape must be applied to corner joints. For applications over slate-chip membranes, lifted areas must be repaired and loose sand particles removed from the surface.
- 2
Mixing
FOX AQUAROOF SR is ready to use; however, it is recommended to stir it once before use.
- 3
Priming – Concrete Surfaces
A primer prepared by adding 10% water to FOX AQUAROOF SR should be applied by roller or spray.
- 4
Priming – Smooth Surfaces Such as Metal and Ceramic
Surfaces must be primed with FOX UNIPRIMER FL555 before applying FOX AQUAROOF SR.
- 5
Application
Approximately 5–6 hours after the primer coat (drying condition must be checked), FOX AQUAROOF SR should be applied in 2 coats by roller or spray. The approximate waiting time between coats is 8 hours.
- 6
Tool and Equipment Cleaning
After application, tools and equipment used should be cleaned with water. Once FOX AQUAROOF SR has cured, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.
The applied material must be protected from frost for the first 24 hours.
Do not apply if there is a risk of rain or if there is dew on the substrate.
Must not be applied to wet or damp substrates.
Drying times between coats must be observed.
Resistant to light pedestrian traffic; must not be used in areas with heavy traffic.
The product must be stored in its original unopened packaging in a dry, cool environment (between +5°C and +30°C), protected from sunlight and frost. FOX AQUAROOF SR freezes at temperatures below 0°C.
Opened packaging must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.
Pallets must never be stacked on top of each other during storage. Shipment must follow a first-in, first-out system.
Approaching storage and application areas with open flame is dangerous. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.
During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes during storage and application; if contact occurs, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
