Product Description
FOX MULTIPLUS® 2K FS542 PLUS FIBER is a cement and polymer-modified, bitumen-rubber based, two-component, fibre-reinforced, solvent-free, flexible waterproofing material with crack-bridging properties. Component A is based on polymer-modified bitumen-rubber (fibre-reinforced), while Component B consists of a special cement blend. It meets the CB2 (≥2 mm static crack bridging), W2A (0.075 N/mm² water impermeability under pressure), C2A (0.30 MN/mm² compressive strength) and R2 (≤8 hours rain resistance) classes according to TS EN 15814+A2:2015. It is used for positive-side waterproofing on structural elements such as foundations, basements, balconies, retaining walls and planters, in both interior and exterior horizontal and vertical applications.
Key Benefits
- Thanks to its fibre-reinforced structure, it can be safely applied to surfaces affected by movement and vibration, providing crack-bridging performance.
- Its two-component formula creates a complete, seamless and permanent waterproofing layer, ensuring long-term protection.
- Its solvent-free, water-based composition allows safe use in both interior and exterior environments.
- The ability to apply on slightly damp and dry surfaces simplifies surface preparation and increases work efficiency.
- Resistance to freeze-thaw cycles and a wide service temperature range of -20°C / +80°C ensures performance in varying climatic conditions.
- Meeting the TS EN 15814+A2:2015 CB2-W2A-C2A-R2 class confirms that performance is guaranteed to international standards.
Advantages
- Easy and fast to apply.
- Applied by brush or trowel.
- Forms a seamless, permanent and moisture-impermeable coating.
- Has crack-bridging properties.
- Can be applied on slightly damp and dry surfaces.
- Long-lasting; resistant to water, weak acids and certain salt solutions.
- Forms a seamless, continuous and permanent waterproofing layer.
- Used in horizontal and vertical applications.
- Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.
- High ageing resistance; provides permanent waterproofing even after many years.
- Can be used in areas affected by movement and vibration.
- Water-based, solvent-free and environmentally friendly.
Usage Areas
- In interior and exterior applications, horizontal and vertical, from the positive side
- On reinforced concrete surfaces below ground that are in continuous contact with water
- On surfaces such as sub-foundation and foundation retaining walls
- On retaining walls
- For waterproofing of planters
- For waterproofing of balconies and terraces against surface water (provided the surface is protected)
- In basements and similar underground structures
- For protection of concrete against groundwater and microorganisms
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
The surface to be treated must be sound and free from oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint and bitumen residues, with all loose particles removed. Iron and wooden plugs on the surface must be removed, and active water leaks must be plugged with FOX PLUG FC340. Existing voids, uneven surfaces and corners/edges (chamfer of at least 4 cm) must be repaired with FOX MORTAR FC188T repair mortar. The surface must be primed before application.
- 2
Mixing
Component B is slowly added to Component A of FOX MULTIPLUS® 2K FS542 PLUS FIBER while mixing with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm and the mixing tip specified in the technical specifications until the mixture is homogeneous, for approximately 3–5 minutes. The mixture is then left to rest for 2 minutes and mixed again for 1 minute before application.
- 3
Priming
For the primer application, Component A of FOX MULTIPLUS® 2K FS542 PLUS FIBER is diluted with water at a ratio of 1/5 and mixed with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm for 3–5 minutes. The prepared mixture is applied to the surface in a single, uniform coat using a brush. Ponding must not be allowed in horizontal applications. The primer must be allowed to dry before proceeding with the waterproofing layer application.
- 4
Waterproofing Application
After the primer has dried, the prepared FOX MULTIPLUS® 2K FS542 PLUS FIBER mixture is applied to the surface in two coats using a brush or trowel at the specified consumption rates. For structures exposed to high water pressure, a mesh-reinforced application must be carried out between coats (for Class W2A: mesh-reinforced application at 4 mm dry film thickness; 6.0 kg/m²). Foundation backfilling must be carried out only after the waterproofing coating has fully dried. Prior to backfilling, the surface must be covered with drainage boards or thermal insulation panels.
- 5
Cleaning of Application Tools
Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned with water. Once FOX MULTIPLUS® 2K FS542 PLUS FIBER has hardened, it can be removed from the surface mechanically using solvent.
If the ambient and surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C, application must not be carried out; appropriate temperatures must be awaited.
Application must not be carried out during rain or when there is a risk of rain. Surfaces that have not fully cured must not be exposed to water. The applied surface must be protected from rain for at least 8 hours.
FOX MULTIPLUS® 2K FS542 PLUS FIBER must be consumed within 1 hour of mixing.
FOX MULTIPLUS® 2K FS542 PLUS FIBER must be mixed with the mixing tip specified in the technical specifications section.
For the material to complete its cure, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.
Particularly in extremely hot weather, rapid water loss may cause an increase in the consistency of the product. To prevent this, water may be added at a rate not exceeding 3% of the total product quantity. The product must be mixed homogeneously.
In exterior applications, products must be protected from sunlight, wind and frost.
Before backfilling the foundation, the surface must be covered with drainage boards or thermal insulation panels, and must be protected from impacts and tears that may occur during backfilling.
The product must be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a dry and cool environment (between +5°C and +30°C), protected from sunlight and frost. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture. Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week. Pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.
Approaching storage and application areas with open flame is dangerous. Storage and application areas must be ventilated. Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
The working and reaction times of bitumen-rubber based systems are affected by ambient and substrate temperature and relative humidity. At low temperatures, the reaction slows down; at high temperatures, the reaction accelerates.
