FOX LYCIA CEMENT TERRAZZO is a self-levelling, early-setting decorative terrazzo floor coating system produced by casting crushed aggregates in place with a cement-based binder and then grinding the surface. The binder is FOX DOMINO® PLUS FD772; total thickness 18-20 mm.

About Lycia Cement Medium · Matt

Lycia Cement Medium · Matt is a cement-based decorative terrazzo floor coating system with a smooth, easy-to-clean and hygienic surface that can be applied in the desired pattern and colour, used for floors exposed to very heavy mechanical and chemical loads. This system uses 1-3 / 2-4 / 3-6 / 6-9 mm crushed aggregate and the surface is completed with a matt finish.

Quartz sand is broadcast over the epoxy primer; after the crack bridging membrane and the pattern profiles, the mixture of FOX DOMINO® PLUS FD772 binder and crushed aggregate is prepared in a mortar mixer, poured onto the surface and spread with a notched trowel. The cured surface is ground with dry and wet diamond tooling to expose the aggregate and the pattern; open pores are filled with FOX DOMINO® FILLER FD775 and FOX DOMINO® PU SEALER FD793 + FOX PURATHANE® TOPCOAT WB (matt) is applied as the top coat. The binder can be produced in all RAL colours. The floor can be walked on 8-10 hours after the application is completed, is ready for use after 24 hours and reaches its final strength in 7 days.

Consumption figures are given for ideal ambient and substrate conditions; a site survey with our specialist team is recommended before defining the system solution.

Which substrates can it be applied to?

It is applied to concrete floors at least 28 days old, of minimum class C25 and with a pull-off strength above 2.0 N/mm²; the concrete moisture content at 2 cm depth must be below 4%. Laitance is removed with abrasive equipment and repairs are made with a mixture of FOX EPOTHANE® PRIMER + quartz sand.

What is the difference between matt and gloss finishes?

The finish is determined by the top coat product. This system has a matt finish: FOX DOMINO® PU SEALER FD793 + FOX PURATHANE® TOPCOAT WB (matt). For a matt finish, FOX PURATHANE® TOPCOAT WB is applied over FOX DOMINO® PU SEALER FD793; the gloss finish is achieved with the lithium silicate based FOX HARDTOP® LI PREMIUM FF845 and LI GLOSS FF847. There is no semi-matt option in the cement system.

How does it differ from epoxy terrazzo?

The cement-based binder is applied at a thickness of 18-20 mm, hardens very quickly (can be walked on after 8 hours, load-bearing after 24 hours) and is solvent-free. For projects requiring higher chemical resistance and a thickness of 9-11 mm, the epoxy-based FOX ZEUGMA EPOXY TERRAZZO is recommended.

Is a non-slip finish possible?

Yes. The system can be completed with a non-slip floor finish on request; please consult our technical team for wet areas and spaces requiring hygienic conditions.

When is the coating ready for use?

At 25 °C the floor can be walked on 8-10 hours after the application is completed and can be put into use after 24 hours; it reaches its final mechanical and chemical resistance at the end of 7 days. Lower temperatures extend these times.

How is it cleaned and maintained?

It is cleaned with neutral detergents or alkaline solutions diluted to a concentration of 5-10%. Regular maintenance extends the service life of the floor and reduces its tendency to soil.

FOX DOMINO® PU SEALER FD793

FOX DOMINO® PU SEALER FD793 is a single-component, polyurethane-based, solvent-borne transparent topcoat protective material that prevents dusting on all types of concrete floors, imparts a glossy appearance, and provides water-repellent properties.

High abrasion resistance; prevents dusting and creates a harder surface.
Provides waterproofing; prevents cracking that may result from freezing.
Used as a polish thanks to the glossy film layer it forms.

FOX PURATHANE® TOPCOAT WB

FOX PURATHANE® TOPCOAT WB is a modified polyurethane-based, two-component, water-based, UV-resistant topcoat with high abrasion resistance, containing aliphatic isocyanate. It is used in epoxy and polyurethane floor systems, on walls and in various industrial areas.
