Product Description

FOX ULTRATEX PLUS is a 3-layer waterproofing and moisture barrier membrane made from polypropylene non-woven fleece and modified polyethylene. It can be used under ceramic and natural stone applications on both walls and floors. Thanks to its crack-bridging capability, it absorbs minor cracks in the substrate and maintains waterproofing continuity. Its broad chemical resistance range and high alkali resistance make it a suitable solution for wet areas, pools, water tanks, balconies and terraces. The product is applied together with ceramic adhesives of at least class C2-S1, such as FOX CERAFLEX® FX114. -

Advantages

  • Easy to apply.
  • Cost-effective.
  • Flexible, bridges cracks.
  • Wide range of chemical resistance. High alkali resistance.
  • Excellent compatibility with cement- and acrylic-based waterproofing materials.
  • Provides solutions for all types of details.

  • Water tanks
  • Under cladding on balconies and terraces

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The surface to be treated must be sound and free from oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint and bitumen residues that could impair adhesion, and all loose particles must be removed. Existing voids, uneven surfaces and corner edges must be dressed with FOX TRIPLETAPE 120 cove strip.

  2. 2

Step 1 – Cove Strip Application

FOX TRIPLETAPE 120 cove strip is applied to wall-floor junctions (coves) in the area to be waterproofed. The cove strip is bonded to the surface using a cement-based fully flexible waterproofing material.

  3. 3

Step 2 – Preparing the Membrane Rolls

The waterproofing membrane rolls are prepared for application and cut to size according to the area to be covered.

  4. 4

    Step 3 – Adhesive Preparation

FOX CERAFLEX® FX114 (C2TES1) ceramic adhesive is prepared taking into account the water quantity stated on the packaging.

  5. 5

Step 4 – Adhesive Application with Notched Trowel

A 4 mm x 4 mm notched trowel must be used for applying the adhesive. The ceramic adhesive is applied to the surface using the notched side of the trowel.

  6. 6

Step 5 – Laying the Membrane

The waterproofing membrane is easily rolled out and applied over the ceramic adhesive on walls and floors. Application from top to bottom is recommended on walls.

  7. 7

Step 6 – Overlap at Joints

FOX ULTRATEX PLUS waterproofing membrane is applied with a minimum 5 cm overlap at joints. Overlap zones (minimum 5 cm) must be sealed with a cement-based fully flexible brush-applied waterproofing material.

  8. 8

Step 7 – Removing Air Bubbles

After the waterproofing membrane has been placed on the surface, any excess ceramic adhesive, air bubbles and voids remaining beneath it are smoothed out with a flat trowel. Voids beneath the membrane must be prevented.

  9. 9

Step 8 – Second Waterproofing Layer (Optional)

After applying FOX ULTRATEX PLUS, it is recommended to apply a cement-based fully flexible waterproofing material (FOX MULTISEAL® FS478 / FOX ULTRASEAL®-UV FS485) as a second waterproofing layer over the membrane on wide-span terraces and pool waterproofing applications.

Critical

The ceramic adhesive used to bond the FOX ULTRATEX PLUS waterproofing membrane to the surface must be a minimum class C2-S1.

Critical

Working and reaction times of ceramic tile adhesives are affected by air temperature, humidity and substrate temperature. To avoid adhesion failure, the FOX ULTRATEX PLUS waterproofing membrane must be applied within the open time of the ceramic adhesive.

Critical

Care must be taken to ensure no voids are left between the membrane, the ceramic adhesive and the substrate.

Critical

Sharp and pointed hand tools must not be used when bonding the FOX ULTRATEX PLUS waterproofing membrane to the substrate. Cuts and holes in the membrane surface must be prevented.

Important

In areas with high substrate moisture, the substrate must be allowed to dry before application.

Information

It is recommended to use INNO-FIX series ceramic adhesives when covering with ceramic, marble or similar products.

Important

Store in original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost. For short-term storage, stack no more than 2 pallets high and apply a first-in, first-out dispatch system. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.

Critical

Approaching storage and application areas with open flame is dangerous. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.

Important

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Important

During storage and application, avoid contact with skin and eyes; if contact occurs, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
