Product Description

FOX ULTRATEX is a 3-layer water and moisture waterproofing membrane made of polypropylene fleece and modified polyethylene, suitable for use on walls and floors under ceramic and natural stone applications. Its crack-bridging property prevents cracks that may form in the substrate from compromising the integrity of the covering. The membrane, 0.65 mm thick and weighing 235 g/m², performs reliably at service temperatures between -30°C and +90°C. With a transverse elongation capacity of 230% and a burst pressure of 2.8 bar, it withstands demanding conditions. It is applied under coverings in wet areas, pools, water tanks, balconies and terraces. It provides excellent compatibility with cement- and acrylic-based waterproofing materials.

Advantages

  • Easy to apply.
  • Cost-effective.
  • Flexible, bridges cracks.
  • Wide chemical resistance range. High alkali resistance.
  • Excellent compatibility with cement- and acrylic-based waterproofing materials.
  • Provides solutions for all types of details.

Usage Areas

  • On walls and floors in interior and exterior areas
  • Wet areas (toilet, bathroom, shower, kitchen, etc.)
  • Pools
  • Water tanks
  • Under coverings on balconies and terraces

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The surface to be treated must be sound and free from all substances that could impair adhesion, such as oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint and bitumen residues; all loose particles must be removed. Existing voids, uneven surfaces and corner edges must be corrected using FOX TRIPLETAPE 120 chamfer tape.

  2. 2

    Chamfer Tape Application

FOX TRIPLETAPE 120 chamfer tape is applied to wall-floor junctions (chamfers) in the area to be waterproofed. The chamfer tape is bonded to the surface using a cement-based fully elastic waterproofing material.

  3. 3

    Membrane Preparation

The waterproofing membrane rolls are prepared for application and cut to size according to the area to be covered.

  4. 4

    Adhesive Preparation

FOX CERAFLEX FX114 (C2TES1) ceramic adhesive is prepared taking into account the water quantity specified on the packaging.

  5. 5

    Adhesive Application

A 4 mm x 4 mm notched trowel must be used to apply the adhesive. The ceramic adhesive is applied to the surface using the notched side of the trowel.

  6. 6

    Membrane Installation

The FOX ULTRATEX waterproofing membrane is easily rolled out and applied over the ceramic adhesive on walls and floors. Application from top to bottom is recommended on walls.

  7. 7

    Joints and Overlaps

FOX ULTRATEX is applied with a minimum 5 cm overlap at joints. Overlap zones (minimum 5 cm) must be sealed with a cement-based fully elastic waterproofing slurry.

  8. 8

    Surface Levelling

After the membrane is placed on the surface, any excess ceramic adhesive, air bubbles and voids beneath it are smoothed out using a flat trowel. Voids beneath the membrane must be prevented.

  9. 9

    Second Waterproofing Layer (Recommended)

After applying FOX ULTRATEX, it is recommended to apply a cement-based fully elastic waterproofing material (FOX MULTISEAL FS478 / FOX ULTRASEAL-UV FS485) as a second waterproofing layer over the membrane for wide-span terraces and pool waterproofing.

Critical

The ceramic adhesive used to bond the FOX ULTRATEX waterproofing membrane to the surface must be a minimum class C2-S1.

Critical

The working and reaction times of ceramic tile adhesives are affected by air temperature, humidity and substrate temperature. To avoid adhesion failure, the FOX ULTRATEX waterproofing membrane must be applied within the open time of the ceramic adhesive.

Critical

Care must be taken to ensure no voids are left between the membrane, the ceramic adhesive and the substrate.

Important

Sharp and pointed hand tools must not be used when bonding the FOX ULTRATEX waterproofing membrane to the substrate. Cuts and holes in the membrane surface must be avoided.

Important

In areas with high substrate moisture, the substrate must be allowed to dry before application.

Information

It is recommended to use INNO-FIX series ceramic adhesives when covering with ceramic, marble or similar products.

Important

Store in the original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost. For short-term storage, stack no more than 2 pallets high and apply a first-in, first-out dispatch system. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.

Critical

Approaching storage and application areas with open flames is dangerous. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.

Important

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Critical

During storage and application, contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
