Product Description

FOX ULTRASEAL®-UV FS485 is a cement and acrylic-based, two-component, UV-resistant, super-flexible waterproofing material that forms an effective barrier against water-borne salts and atmospheric gases. It meets the requirements of TS EN 1504-2/Principle 2.2 and 8.2. Applied at a minimum dry film thickness of 2 mm, it provides water impermeability up to 7 bar pressure in the positive direction. It can be used on horizontal/vertical surfaces in interior and exterior areas, UV-exposed terraces, water tanks, pools and wet rooms. Applied in two or three coats by brush or spray machine.

Advantages

  • Resistant to UV radiation.
  • Excellent adhesion properties.
  • Easy to prepare and apply.
  • Can be applied by brush or spray machine.
  • Long working time.
  • Resistant to light pedestrian traffic on terraces.
  • Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.
  • Resistant to carbon dioxide and chlorine in atmospheric conditions.

  • Spaces such as Turkish baths, saunas and spas

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The surface to be treated must be sound and free from oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint and bitumen residues that would impair adhesion, and all loose particles must be removed. Iron and wooden plugs on the surface must be removed, and active water leaks must be plugged with FOX PLUG FC340. Existing voids, uneven surfaces and corner edges (chamfer of at least 4 cm) must be repaired with FOX MORTAR FC188 T repair mortar.

  2. 2

    Mixing

Half of the FOX ULTRASEAL®-UV FS485 Component B is poured into a clean mixing container. Component A is added slowly while mixing with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm for 2–3 minutes. The mixture, which reaches a paste consistency, is left to mature for 3–5 minutes; then the remaining Component B is added and mixed for a further 1–2 minutes. Mixing ratio: 20 kg Component A + 10 kg Component B.

  3. 3

    Application

The surface must be dampened before application. The prepared mixture is applied in two or three coats using a waterproofing brush or spray machine to achieve a minimum dry film thickness of 2 mm. The direction of brush application must be perpendicular between successive coats. The waiting time between coats is determined according to ambient conditions. FOX PROMAT 69 (alkali-resistant glass textile mesh) must be used where required. FOX TRIPLETAPE 120 chamfer tape must be applied to corner joints.

  4. 4

    Tool Cleaning

Tools and equipment used must be cleaned with water immediately after application. Once FOX ULTRASEAL®-UV FS485 has hardened, it can only be removed by mechanical means.

Critical

Application should not be carried out if the ambient and surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C; suitable temperatures must be awaited.

Critical

Application should not be carried out in extremely hot, rainy or windy weather.

Critical

For exterior surface applications, the surface must be protected from sunlight, wind, rain or frost for the first 24 hours.

Critical

The wet film thickness in a single coat must not exceed 1.30 mm.

Critical

For the material to complete its curing, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.

Important

FOX ULTRASEAL®-UV FS485 applied at +23°C gains mechanical strength after 3 days, becomes water-impermeable after 7 days, and reaches its final strength after 28 days.

Important

FOX TRIPLETAPE 120 chamfer tape must be applied to corner joints in the application area. Where chamfer tape is not available, after forming a corner chamfer, FOX PROMAT 69 (alkali-resistant glass textile mesh) 20 cm wide must be placed at the corners.

Important

Areas that need to be walked on must be covered with a screed containing FOX BINDER FM125 additive.

Information

The working and reaction times of cement and acrylic-based systems are affected by ambient and substrate temperature and relative humidity. Reaction slows at low temperatures and accelerates at high temperatures.

Important

The product must be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a dry and cool environment (between +5°C and +30°C), protected from sunlight and frost. Component B freezes below 0°C.

Important

When the specified storage conditions are observed, the shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture. Opened packaging must be consumed within 1 week.

Critical

Approaching storage and application areas with open flame is dangerous. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.

Critical

Appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Must be stored out of reach of children.

Information

When covering with ceramic, marble or similar products, the use of INNO-FIX series ceramic adhesives is recommended.
