Product Description

FOX SULPHATSEAL FS275 is a single-component, cement-based waterproofing material containing mineral fillers, special sulphate-resistant cements and polymer-modified additives. Thanks to its formulation resistant to chemicals found in domestic wastewater and to mechanical impacts, it is reliably used for waterproofing and protection of wastewater channels, concrete pipes (culverts), wastewater and rainwater tanks, and channel surfaces. It can be applied to concrete and cement-based renders both from the inside and outside. The product, which is easily processed by brush, trowel or spray, is applied in a minimum of two coats. At +23°C conditions, it gains mechanical strength in 2 days, water impermeability in 3 days, and full strength in 28 days.

Advantages

Usage Areas

  • Application from the water side in interior and exterior areas
  • As an impermeable final coat over surfaces repaired or rendered with FOX MORTAR FC188 T in domestic wastewater facilities with a depth of less than 15 m
  • Protection and waterproofing coating of the upper surfaces of channels and culverts
  • Coating of domestic wastewater facilities and reinforced concrete pipes (culverts)
  • Protection of wastewater channels and concrete pipes against sulphate effects
  • Wastewater and rainwater tanks

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The surface to be treated must be sound and free from oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint and bitumen residues that would impair adhesion, with all loose particles removed. Iron and wooden plugs on the surface must be removed; active water leaks must be sealed with FOX PLUG FC340. Voids, uneven surfaces and corners must be repaired with FOX MORTAR FC188 T repair mortars to a minimum radius of 4 cm. The application surface must be thoroughly wetted and left until damp.

  2. 2

    Mixing

The amount of water indicated on the packaging is placed into a clean mixing container. The powder from the FOX SULPHATSEAL FS275 bag is slowly added to the water while mixing with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm for approximately 4 minutes until homogeneous. No lumps must remain in the material. After the mixed material has been left to rest for 3 minutes, it is mixed for a further 30 seconds to make it ready for application. For brush consistency, 5.75 lt of water is added per 25 kg bag; for trowel consistency, 4.75 lt.

  3. 3

    Application

FOX SULPHATSEAL FS275 is applied to the pre-dampened surface by brush, trowel or spray in a minimum of 2 coats. The direction of brush application must be perpendicular between coats, and a waiting period of 3–5 hours must elapse between coats. The wet film thickness must not exceed 2 mm per coat. The prepared material must be consumed within 30 minutes.

  4. 4

    Cleaning of Tools

Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned immediately with water. Once FOX SULPHATSEAL FS275 has hardened, it can only be removed from surfaces by mechanical means.

Critical

The temperature of the application surface must be between +5°C and +25°C. Application must not be carried out outside this temperature range.

Critical

The wet film thickness must not exceed 2 mm per coat. Application must be carried out in a minimum of two coats.

Critical

The prepared material must be consumed within 30 minutes; material exceeding this time must not be used.

Critical

For exterior surface applications, after application the surface must be protected from sunlight, wind, rain or frost for the first 24 hours.

Important

FOX SULPHATSEAL FS275 applied at +23°C gains mechanical strength after 2 days, becomes water-impermeable after 3 days, and reaches its final strength after 28 days. Higher temperatures shorten the time, lower temperatures extend it.

Important

A waiting period of 3–5 hours must elapse between each coat application. The 2nd coat can be applied after the 1st coat has reached sufficient hardness.

Important

If the material takes on a matt appearance during application, it indicates that the surface has not been sufficiently wetted. In hot or windy weather, the mixing water may be increased by 10% for the first coat only.

Important

The product must be stored between +5°C and +30°C, away from direct sunlight, in a cool and dry environment. Opened packages must be tightly resealed and used within one week.

Critical

Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. In case of contact with skin or eyes, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Storage and application areas must be ventilated. Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.

Information

For short-term storage, a maximum of 3 pallets may be stacked on top of each other; for long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked.

Information

The technical values above are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity conditions. They may vary depending on ambient conditions.
