Product Description

FOX PURMAX® BT2K FS702 is a two-component (A: Polyurethane, B: Bitumen), elastic, bitumen-polyurethane based waterproofing material that is unaffected by ambient relative humidity and offers high mechanical resistance. It meets the requirements of Principles 1.3, 2.2 and 8.2 of TS EN 1504-2:2008. The membrane obtained by homogeneously mixing components A and B exhibits thermal resistance performance between -40°C and +90°C; elongation at break is %1000, Shore A hardness is 80 and adhesion strength exceeds 1.5 N/mm². The product can be easily applied in a single coat with a steel trowel or squeegee, and can be overcoated with FOX PURMAX® TOPCOAT in cases of UV exposure.

Key Benefits

  • Applicable in a single coat, saving labour and time.
  • Offers crack-bridging capability with high elongation at break (%1000); resistant to structural movements.
  • Unaffected by relative humidity, allowing safe application even in damp conditions.
  • Maintains performance across a wide temperature range from -40°C to +90°C.
  • TS EN 1504-2:2008 compliance allows easy inclusion in project specifications.
  • Offers a wide range of applications including terraces, roofs, tunnels, tanks, steel and prefabricated structures.

Advantages

  • Easy to apply.

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Oil, grease, fuel and paraffin residues, mould release agents, cement residues and debris, loose particles and cured membranes must be completely removed. Surface defects, uneven surfaces and corner edges must be repaired with FOX MORTAR FC188 T repair mortar to form a chamfer with a minimum radius of 4 cm. Surface cracks must be filled and repaired with FOX PURSEAL PS600 polyurethane mastic. The substrate must have a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm², minimum tensile strength of 1.5 N/mm², maximum moisture content of 4% and a minimum substrate temperature of +8°C.

  2. 2

    Priming

The appropriate FOX EPOTHANE® or FOX PURMAX® PRIMER 1K must be selected from the primer selection table according to the surface type. FOX EPOTHANE® PRIMER WB or FOX PURMAX® PRIMER 1K is used for standard concrete surfaces. Ensure that the substrate temperature is a minimum of +8°C during primer application; FOX PURMAX® BT2K FS702 must not be applied before the primer has cured.

  3. 3

    Mixing

Components A and B are each thoroughly mixed separately. After component A has been fully added to component B, mix with an electric mixer at 300–400 rpm for 3–4 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Avoid over-mixing to minimise air entrainment. Pot life is 20 minutes.

  4. 4

    Waterproofing Application

The prepared mixture is poured onto the surface and applied evenly in a single coat using a steel trowel or squeegee. The application surface must be rolled with a spiked roller. FOX PURMAX® TOPCOAT must be applied after application on surfaces that will be exposed to UV radiation.

  5. 5

    Tool and Equipment Cleaning

Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned with solvent or polyurethane thinner. Once FOX PURMAX® BT2K FS702 has cured, it can only be removed from the surface by mechanical means.

Critical

Before application, concrete surfaces must be at least 3 weeks old, and the ambient and surface temperature must be a minimum of +10°C and a maximum of +30°C.

Critical

The substrate temperature must be a minimum of +8°C; ensure that the substrate temperature is at least +3°C above the dew point.

Critical

Relative air humidity must be a maximum of 80%. Beware of dew formation and condensation.

Critical

Mixing must be carried out with an electric mixer at 300–400 rpm using the specified mixing paddle. Otherwise, air bubbles will form on the coating.

Important

After component A has been fully added to component B, mix continuously for 3–4 minutes. Avoid over-mixing to minimise air entrainment.

Critical

Pot life is 20 minutes; the mixture must be applied within this time.

Important

A vapour barrier layer must be created on slabs resting on soil.

Important

If the waterproofing coating will be exposed to UV radiation, FOX PURMAX® TOPCOAT must be applied.

Important

Application should be avoided in extremely hot weather.

Important

Rain, dust, wind, animals and insects must be prevented from entering the application area while the coating is still fresh.

Important

Materials to be used should be brought to the application site 1–2 days before use and allowed to acclimatise to ambient conditions.

Important

In cold weather, products should be kept at +20°C – +25°C to improve workability.

Important

Store between +5°C and +30°C, away from direct sunlight, in a cool and dry environment, protected from frost. Shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture.

Important

For short-term storage, pallets may be stacked no more than 3 high; for long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; areas must be ventilated.

Critical

Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.

Information

Actual consumption may vary depending on surface texture and ambient temperature. It should be noted that consumption will increase on uneven surfaces and in cold weather conditions.

Information

Technical values are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity conditions. Higher temperatures shorten the time; lower temperatures extend it.
