Product Description

FOX PURMAX® BETOP FS774 is a chlorinated rubber-based, solvent-borne, UV-resistant, aliphatic, single-component, ready-to-use topcoat material. It is resistant to pool chemicals, acids, chlorine, oxidising and bleaching chemicals, and is designed for use on swimming pools, ornamental pools and protective concrete surfaces. The product is diluted with 30% FOX PURMAX® BETOP TINER and applied as a primer coat; the second coat is applied undiluted by brush or airless machine. The surface temperature must be between +10°C and +30°C, and a minimum of 16 hours must be allowed between coats. As the product has a breathing structure, thick application must be avoided. Full curing time is 14 days; pool filling must be carried out gradually after this period.

Key Benefits

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The surface to be coated must be sound and free from oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint and bitumen residues, with all loose particles removed. Existing voids and uneven surfaces must be filled with FOX MORTAR FC188 T repair mortar, and corners and edges must be chamfered to a minimum width of 4 cm. If there is an existing coating on the surface, it must be ground back to bare concrete. Ensure the surface is not damp or wet.

  2. 2

    Substrate Waterproofing and Render

After waterproofing with a cement-based product such as FOX MULTISEAL FS478, a render coat must be applied using FOX BASEMOR FC205. In very hot weather, FOX BINDER FM125 can be added to the render mortar to improve its consistency and strength.

  3. 3

    Mixing

FOX PURMAX® BETOP FS774 is ready to use. As it contains pigment, it must be mixed with an electric mixer at 300–400 rpm using an epoxy/polyurethane resin mixing paddle for 1–2 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Excessive mixing must be avoided to minimise air entrainment.

  4. 4

    1st Coat (Primer) Application

New concrete must be at least 4 weeks old. FOX PURMAX® BETOP FS774 is diluted with 30% FOX PURMAX® BETOP TINER and applied as a primer coat using a suitable brush or specialist spray machine. Roller application must be avoided.

  5. 5

    2nd Coat Application

A minimum of 16 hours after the primer application, the second coat of FOX PURMAX® BETOP FS774 is applied undiluted by brush or airless machine. Thick application must be avoided; otherwise white staining and blistering may occur.

  6. 6

    Application on Existing Surfaces

The existing paint on the surface must be removed or its adhesion checked. Existing paint with insufficient adhesion must be removed by mechanical methods and the surface wiped with FOX PURMAX® BETOP TINER. FOX PURMAX® BETOP FS774 is then applied in two coats, undiluted, by brush or airless machine, with a minimum of 16 hours between coats.

  7. 7

    Pool Filling

After application, the full curing time of 14 days must be awaited before filling with water. Pool filling must be carried out gradually.

  8. 8

    Tool Cleaning

After application, all tools and equipment must be cleaned immediately with FOX PURMAX BETOP TINER. Once the product has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface by mechanical means.

Critical

The ambient and surface temperature must not be below +10°C or above +30°C.

Critical

Relative air humidity must be a maximum of 80%.

Important

Application must not be carried out under direct sunlight.

Critical

Avoid applying a thick coat. Two coats must always be applied.

Important

Ventilation must be installed in areas with insufficient air circulation.

Critical

The drying time between coats is a minimum of 16 hours and may vary depending on ambient temperature, substrate temperature, substrate moisture and air humidity.

Important

Roller application causes air bubbles on the surface; therefore roller application must be avoided.

Critical

The surface must not be damp or wet. Otherwise, flaking and peeling may occur.

Critical

After application, the full curing time of the paint must be awaited before filling with water; approximately 14 days are required. Pool filling must be carried out gradually.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.

Important

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Critical

During storage and application, contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture when stored at room temperature between +5°C and +30°C, away from direct sunlight and under proper conditions.

Important

Must be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a cool and dry environment, protected from frost. For short-term storage, a maximum of 3 pallets may be stacked on top of each other.
