Usage Areas

  • On interior and exterior surfaces, vertically and horizontally, from the positive side where water is present
  • In Olympic swimming pools and thermal pools
  • In water and balance tanks
  • In wall and floor coverings of cold storage facilities
  • In all wet areas such as bathrooms, balconies, kitchens, etc.
  • On terraces (provided they are covered)
  • In foundations, retaining walls and basement walls
  • In planter box waterproofing
  • In drinking water tanks (contact with drinking water has been approved in accordance with the Bs6290 standard by the Department of Chemistry Education at Akdeniz University)

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The surface to be treated must be sound and free from all substances that could impair adhesion, such as oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint and bitumen residues; all loose particles must be removed. Iron and wooden plugs on the surface must be removed, and any active water leaks must be plugged with FOX PLUG FC340. Existing voids, uneven surfaces and corner edges (chamfer of at least 4 cm) must be repaired with FOX MORTAR FC188 T repair mortar.

  2. 2

    Mixing

Half of FOX MULTISEAL® FS478 component B is poured into a clean mixing container. Component A is added slowly while mixing with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm with a suitable mixing paddle for approximately 2–3 minutes. The mixture, which reaches a paste consistency, is left to rest for 3–5 minutes; then the remaining component B is added and mixed for a further 1–2 minutes. Mixing ratio: 20 kg component A + 10 kg component B.

  3. 3

    Wetting the Surface

The surface must be dampened before application. If the coating material loses water rapidly and takes on a matt appearance, the surface has not been sufficiently dampened or rapid drying is occurring. In hot or windy conditions, water equivalent to 10% of component B may be added to the mixed material for the first coat only.

  4. 4

    Application

The prepared FOX MULTISEAL® FS478 mixture is applied with a waterproofing brush in two or three coats to achieve a minimum dry film thickness of 2 mm. The direction of brush application must be perpendicular between each coat. The waiting time between coats varies depending on ambient conditions. Depending on the application location and size, FOX PROMAT 69 (alkali-resistant glass fibre mesh) must be used. FOX TRIPLETAPE 120 corner tape must be applied to corner joints.

  5. 5

    Tile Adhesive Selection

Depending on the size of the ceramic, marble or other cladding material to be applied on top and the intended use, it is recommended to use a flexible FOX brand tile adhesive (INNO-FIX series) meeting C2ES1/C2TES1/C2TES2 properties in accordance with EN 12004-1.

  6. 6

    Tool Cleaning

After application, all tools and equipment used must be cleaned with water.

Critical

Application should not be carried out if the ambient and surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C; appropriate temperatures must be awaited.

Critical

Application should not be carried out in excessively hot, rainy or windy weather.

Important

FOX MULTISEAL® FS478 applied at +23°C gains mechanical strength after 2 days, becomes waterproof after 7 days, and reaches its final strength after 28 days.

Critical

For exterior surface applications, the surface must be protected from sunlight, wind, rain or frost for the first 24 hours.

Critical

For the material to cure fully, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature. The wet film thickness per coat during application must not exceed 1.30 mm.

Information

The working and reaction times of cement and acrylic-based systems are affected by ambient temperature, substrate temperature and relative humidity. Reaction slows at low temperatures; high temperatures accelerate the reaction.

Important

FOX TRIPLETAPE 120 corner tape must be applied to corner joints in the application area. Where corner tape is not used, after forming a chamfer, FOX PROMAT 69 glass fibre mesh 20 cm wide must be embedded.

Important

Areas that need to be walked on must be covered with a screed containing FOX BINDER FM125 additive.

Critical

FOX MULTISEAL® FS478 component B freezes at temperatures below 0°C. The product must be stored in its original unopened packaging in a dry and cool (+5°C to +30°C) environment, protected from sunlight and frost.

Important

When the specified storage conditions are observed, the shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture. Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

For short-term storage, component A pallets may be stacked a maximum of 2 high, while component B pallets must never be stacked on top of each other.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; these areas must be ventilated.

Critical

Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas, and the product must be stored out of reach of children.
