Product Description
FOX MULTIPLUS® FS540 is a bitumen-rubber emulsion based, single-component, solvent-free, ready-to-use flexible waterproofing material with crack-bridging properties. It meets the CB1 (≥1 mm static crack bridging), W1 (0.0075 N/mm² water impermeability under pressure) and C1 (0.06 MN/m² compressive strength) classifications within the scope of TS EN 15814+A2:2015 standards. Its water-based formulation makes it environmentally friendly. It forms a seamless, continuous and permanent waterproofing layer on the surface. It can be applied on slightly damp and dry surfaces; it is resistant to freeze-thaw cycles, water, weak acids and certain salt solutions. The mixing density is 1.20 ±0.05 kg/lt and the solid content is 74±1%. The fire classification is Euroclass E according to TS EN 13501-1.
Key Benefits
- Its single-component structure simplifies site preparation and speeds up the application process.
- Being solvent-free, it can be safely applied in enclosed and semi-enclosed areas.
- TS EN 15814+A2:2015 CB1-W1-C1 certification allows direct reference in project specifications.
- Crack-bridging (≥1 mm) property ensures long-term watertightness on moving surfaces.
- Resistance to freeze-thaw cycles and water maintains performance in harsh climatic conditions.
- Offers dual-function use as thermal insulation board adhesive and vapour barrier layer.
Advantages
- Easy and fast to apply.
- Applied by brush or trowel.
- Solvent-free.
- Can be applied on slightly damp and dry surfaces.
- Long-lasting; resistant to water, weak acids and certain salt solutions.
- Forms a seamless, continuous and permanent waterproofing layer.
- Can be used as a vapour barrier layer in horizontal applications.
- Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.
- Water-based and environmentally friendly.
Usage Areas
- In interior and exterior applications, horizontal and vertical, from the positive side
- On reinforced concrete surfaces below ground that are in continuous contact with water
- On surfaces such as foundations and retaining walls
- On retaining walls
- In basements and similar underground structures
- For protection of concrete against groundwater and microorganisms
- For bonding thermal insulation boards
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
The surface to be applied must be sound and free from all oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint and bitumen residues that would prevent adhesion; all loose particles must be removed. Iron and wooden plugs on the surface must be removed, and any active water leaks must be plugged with FOX PLUG FC340. Existing voids, uneven surfaces and corner edges (chamfer of at least 4 cm) must be repaired with FOX MORTAR FC188 T (R4) repair mortar. The surface must be primed before applying FOX MULTIPLUS® FS540.
- 2
Mixing
FOX MULTIPLUS® FS540 must be mixed for 3 minutes using a low-speed electric mixer (400–600 rpm) with the mixing attachment specified in the technical data section.
- 3
Priming
For primer application, take 1 kg of material from the FOX MULTIPLUS® FS540 bucket, add 5 litres of water in a separate mixing container and mix with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm for 3–5 minutes. The prepared mixture is applied to the surface in a single, homogeneous coat using a brush. The primer must be allowed to dry.
- 4
Waterproofing Application
After the primer has dried, FOX MULTIPLUS® FS540 is applied to the surface in two coats using a brush at the specified consumption rates. Once the waterproofing coating has fully dried, backfilling may be carried out. Before backfilling, the surface must be covered with drainage boards or thermal insulation panels; it must be protected from impacts and tearing that may occur during backfilling. Application must not be carried out during rain or when there is a possibility of rain.
- 5
Tool and Equipment Cleaning
After application, tools and equipment used must be cleaned with water. Once FOX MULTIPLUS® FS540 has hardened, it can be removed from the surface mechanically using solvent.
If the ambient and surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C, application must not be carried out; appropriate temperatures must be awaited.
Application must not be carried out during rain or when there is a possibility of rain. Surfaces that have not fully cured must not be exposed to water.
For exterior surface applications, the applied surface must be protected from sun, wind, rain or frost for the first 24 hours.
For the material to complete its cure, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.
The working and reaction times of bitumen-rubber based systems are affected by the ambient and substrate temperature and the relative humidity in the air. At low temperatures the reaction slows down; at high temperatures the reaction accelerates.
Must be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a cool and dry environment, protected from frost. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture (between +5°C and +30°C, away from direct sunlight). Opened material should be used as soon as possible.
Approaching storage and application areas with open flame is dangerous; these areas must be ventilated.
Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. In case of ingestion, consult a doctor immediately.
Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Must be stored out of reach of children.
The technical values above are given at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the time, lower temperatures extend the time.
