Product Description

FOX COMBOTAPE is a high-performance thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) waterproofing tape developed for the elastic and permanent protection of expansion joints, construction joints, connection points, and cracks in structures. Its mechanical properties and chemical resistance are designed to meet building requirements across a wide range of applications. The product can be applied to concrete, metal, PVC pipes, and all similar surfaces, delivering outstanding performance with 1000% elongation capacity in both longitudinal and transverse directions, 14 N/mm² tensile strength, and >4.0 bar water pressure resistance. Thanks to its wide service temperature range of -30°C to +90°C, it retains its flexibility even in harsh climatic conditions. With 6500 hours of UV resistance, it is also suitable for long-term outdoor use. An adhesion strength of >4.0 N/mm² is achieved when used with FOX EPOMORTAR FC510 epoxy adhesive.

Advantages

  • Fast and easy to apply.
  • High elasticity.
  • Waterproof and airtight.
  • Resistant to harsh weather conditions, ozone, and UV exposure.
  • Continuously elastic; resistant to all types of movement and stress in structures and structural elements.
  • Odourless and highly resistant to chemicals.
  • Unaffected by ambient temperatures; does not lose flexibility in cold conditions.
  • High tear resistance.
  • Resistant to plant roots.
  • Can be heat-welded at joints.
  • Resistant to bacterial attack and chemical degradation.
  • High resistance to environmental influences and aggressive environments.
  • Can be bonded at joints using FOX EPOMORTAR FC510.

Usage Areas

  • Expansion and movement joints, steel, reinforcement, and concrete cracks
  • Underground car parks and multi-storey car park terraces
  • Foundations, underground structures, channels, and tunnel segments
  • Pools, water tanks, silos, and ponds
  • Wastewater treatment plants

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

For expansion joints, both internal and external surfaces must be sound, dry, load-bearing, dust-free, and clean, as well as level and even. The surface must be thoroughly cleaned of all oil, grease, rust, and paraffin residues that could reduce adhesion, and loose particles must be removed. Any surface irregularities must be corrected using FOX EPOMORTAR FC510.

  2. 2

    Joint Filling

Joints must be filled with FOX PURMAX® MASTIC or FOX PURSEAL PS600 mastic and allowed to fully cure before proceeding with FOX COMBOTAPE application.

  3. 3

    FOX COMBOTAPE Application

FOX EPOMORTAR FC510 is applied to the outer surfaces of the expansion joint, extending 3 cm beyond the width of FOX COMBOTAPE on each side. After FOX COMBOTAPE is positioned over the joint, a second coat of epoxy adhesive is applied in the same manner as the first coat. To achieve the required elongation with FOX COMBOTAPE, the felt strip in the centre must be removed; only in this way can the desired elongation be achieved.

  4. 4

    Joint Splicing

Where the tape is joined end-to-end, it is appropriate to use FOX EPOMORTAR FC510 epoxy adhesive or hot welding.

Critical

The surface must be sound, dry, load-bearing, dust-free, and clean, as well as level and even. The surface must be free of oil, grease, rust, and paraffin residues that could reduce adhesion; loose particles must be removed.

Critical

To achieve the required elongation with FOX COMBOTAPE, the felt strip in the centre must be removed; otherwise the desired elongation cannot be achieved.

Critical

Joints must be filled with FOX PURMAX® MASTIC or FOX PURSEAL PS600 mastic and allowed to fully cure before proceeding with FOX COMBOTAPE application.

Critical

Open flames near storage and application areas are dangerous; these areas must be well ventilated.

Important

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Critical

Avoid contact with skin and eyes during storage and application; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas.

Important

Store out of reach of children.

Important

Store in original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost. For short-term storage, stack no more than 2 pallets high and apply a first-in, first-out dispatch system. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.

Information

The values in the technical specifications are given at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the time; lower temperatures extend it.
