Product Description
FOX ASPARTHANE® CLEARCOAT is a polyaspartic-based, two-component, high chemical resistance, fast-curing, low-viscosity, solvent-free, glossy, transparent floor coating. It offers 4 times higher chemical and mechanical resistance compared to epoxy. Its aliphatic structure provides colour and gloss stability against UV. After application, it can be opened to pedestrian traffic in approximately 2 hours. With a density of 1.09 gr/cm³, the product contains 100% solids and is solvent-free. It can be applied by self-levelling or roller application methods at thicknesses ranging from 0.2 mm to 1 mm. Used in conjunction with FOX ASPARTHANE® PRIMER or FOX ASPARTHANE® BASECOAT.
Advantages
- High chemical and mechanical resistance (4 times compared to epoxy).

- It is an aliphatic coating.
- Easy to maintain and clean.
- Provides hygienic environments.
- Liquid-impermeable.
- Glossy topcoat finish is achieved.
- High adhesion strength.

Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
Concrete surfaces to be coated must be opened to an open-pore structure by removing the cement laitance using abrasive equipment such as shot blasting, milling or diamond grinding. Weak concrete fragments must be removed, small voids and holes must be fully opened, and the resulting dust must be cleaned with an industrial vacuum. Voids and damaged surfaces must be filled and levelled with a mortar obtained by mixing FOX EPOTHANE® PRIMER series primer with 60–70 AFS (0.1–0.3 mm) quartz sand.
- 2
Surface Quality Control
Concrete compressive strength must be at least 25 N/mm², tensile strength at least 1.5 N/mm², moisture content maximum 4%, and substrate temperature minimum +8°C. Substrate temperature must be at least +3°C above the dew point. The surface must be clean, dry and free from foreign matter (oil, grease, old coatings, curing compounds, etc.).
- 3
Priming
Surfaces to be coated with FOX ASPARTHANE® CLEARCOAT must have FOX ASPARTHANE® PRIMER (1 or 2 coats, 150–250 gr/m²) or FOX ASPARTHANE® BASECOAT applied beforehand. Depending on surface roughness, FOX EPOTHANE® series products may also be used as a primer. Substrate temperature (min +8°C) must be observed.
- 4
Mixing
Ensure product temperatures are between +10°C and +25°C. Component A (FOX ASPARTHANE® CLEARCOAT) is thoroughly mixed within itself using an electric mixer. After component B is fully added to component A, mix continuously for at least 3 minutes at 300–400 rpm using an electric mixer with an epoxy/polyurethane resin mixing tip. Avoid over-mixing to minimise air entrainment.
- 5
Coating – Self-Levelling Application
FOX ASPARTHANE® CLEARCOAT is poured onto the surface and applied evenly with a notched trowel. When the coating reaches the appropriate consistency, a spike roller must be applied to release air. If spike roller application is delayed, marks may remain on the surface.
- 6
Coating – Roller Application
FOX ASPARTHANE® CLEARCOAT is poured onto the surface in equal amounts and at equal intervals. It is applied homogeneously using a short-nap roller. Application should be carried out in two coats.
- 7
Tool Cleaning
Tools and equipment used must be cleaned with solvent immediately after application. Once FOX ASPARTHANE® CLEARCOAT has cured, it can only be removed from the surface by mechanical means.
After application is complete, the coating must be protected from direct water contact for at least 24 hours. In case of water contact, softening and blistering may occur on the coating and its properties may be lost; in this case, the coating must be completely removed and reapplied.
Surface temperature must be minimum +10°C, maximum +25°C; ambient temperature minimum +10°C, maximum +25°C; material temperature minimum +10°C, maximum +25°C.
Relative humidity must be maximum 60%. Pay attention to dew point and condensation; if condensation forms on the coating, it must be dried with a dry mop.
Substrate moisture content must be below 4%. There must be no rising moisture according to ASTM (polyethylene sheet test).
Pot life at +23°C is approximately 20 minutes. Application must be completed within the specified time after mixing.
Mixing must be carried out with an electric mixer at 300–400 rpm and an epoxy/polyurethane resin mixing tip. Using the wrong mixing tip will entrain air into the product, causing air bubbles on the coating.
Surfaces to be coated with FOX ASPARTHANE® CLEARCOAT must have FOX ASPARTHANE® PRIMER or FOX ASPARTHANE® BASECOAT applied beforehand.
Concrete surfaces to be coated with polyaspartic must be at least 3 weeks old prior to application, and a vapour barrier layer must be created for slabs on grade.
Materials to be used should be brought to the application site 1–2 days in advance and allowed to acclimatise to ambient conditions.
In cold weather, packaging should be kept at +20°C – +25°C to improve workability before use.
Rain, dust, wind, animals and insects must be prevented from entering the application area while the coating is still fresh.
If spike roller application is delayed, spike roller marks may remain on the surface.
The product must be stored in its original packaging between +10°C and +25°C, away from direct sunlight, in a cool and dry environment. Shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture.
Approaching storage and application areas with open flame is dangerous; areas must be ventilated. Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Store out of reach of children.
The above technical values are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity conditions. Higher temperatures shorten the times, lower temperatures extend them.
The product does not contain VOC (volatile organic compounds / solvents).
