Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
The surface to be coated must be free of loose particles and cleared of all residues that could reduce adhesion, such as oil, grease and dirt. The surface to be coated may be damp or dry. If there are any flaking areas on previously painted surfaces, these must be cleaned and levelled using a repair mortar such as FOX FASTMORTAR FC245 or FOX BASEMOR FC205.
- 2
Priming
On old mineral plasters and concrete: Lightly absorbent, smooth surfaces should be primed with FOX DECODUR PRIMER; porous, absorbent, slightly sandy surfaces should be primed with FOX PRIMERA® FL220. On old matt coatings: Moderately absorbent surfaces should be primed with FOX DECODUR PRIMER diluted with a maximum of 3% water; porous surfaces should be primed with FOX PRIMERA® FL220 diluted 1:1 with water. Glossy surfaces should be primed with FOX UNIPRIMER FL555; plastered surfaces and surfaces after wallpaper removal should be primed with FOX PRIMERA® FL220 diluted 1:1 with water.
- 3
Mixing
FOX INOVA CHANTIER must be mixed with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm before use.
- 4
Thinning
If required, FOX INOVA CHANTIER may be thinned by adding a maximum of 10% water.
- 5
Application
After the primer has dried, FOX INOVA CHANTIER is applied with a suitable roller or spray machine. A brush is recommended for corners and edges. Cut-ins at doors, windows and ceiling-wall junctions must be done first, then roller application must continue without interruption. After the first coat has dried (min. 6 hours), a second coat is applied using the same method.

Tool Cleaning
After application, tools and equipment used must be cleaned with water.
Application temperature must be between +5°C and +30°C. Paints must not be applied in very hot or very cold conditions.
During and after application, the surface must be protected from rain, water, mechanical impact and all other external influences for 24 hours.
To prevent lap marks and overlaps, application must be carried out wet-on-wet in a single continuous pass.
A minimum of 6 hours must be allowed before applying the second coat over the first coat.
For new cement-plastered or bare concrete surfaces being painted for the first time, application must not take place until at least 28 days have elapsed.
Paint must never be applied directly over wallpaper. Wallpaper must be completely stripped from the surface.
The product may be thinned by adding a maximum of 10% water. Over-thinning causes problems with coverage, roller marks and surface undulation.
Insufficient thinning of the product leads to the risk of thick application; cracks may occur in thickly applied paint.
No powder or liquid additives should be added to the paint, and it must not be thinned beyond the dilution ratio stated on the packaging.
No paint should be applied to dirty or damp surfaces.
When cleaning stains on walls, the entire wall — not just the stained area — must be wiped; otherwise localised sheen differences may appear on the surface.
During paint application, cut-ins at doors, windows and ceiling-wall junctions must be done first, then roller application must continue without interruption.
When taking breaks during the day, packaging lids must always be closed.
In unopened packaging, the product can be stored for 12 months in a cool, dry place, protected from frost and direct sunlight.
Rooms where application is carried out must be well ventilated. A mask, gloves and protective goggles must be worn during application.
During storage and application, contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
