  • In living spaces such as living rooms and bedrooms

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The surface to be coated must be free of loose particles and all residues that could reduce adhesion, such as oil, grease and dirt. The surface to be coated may be damp or dry. If there are any flaking areas on painted surfaces, they should be levelled using a repair mortar such as FOX FASTMORTAR FC245 or FOX BASEMOR FC205.

  2. 2

    Priming

On old mineral plaster and concrete surfaces: slightly absorbent, smooth surfaces should be primed with FOX DECODUR PRIMER; porous, absorbent, slightly sandy surfaces should be primed with FOX PRIMERA® FL220. On old matt coatings: moderately absorbent surfaces should be primed with FOX DECODUR PRIMER diluted with max. 3% water; porous, absorbent surfaces should be primed with FOX PRIMERA® FL220 diluted 1:1 with water. Glossy surfaces should be primed with FOX UNIPRIMER FL555. Plastered surfaces and surfaces after wallpaper removal should be primed with FOX PRIMERA® FL220 diluted 1:1 with water. Mouldy, damp and heavily soiled surfaces should be primed with FOX INOVA MS BARRIER.

  3. 3

    Mixing

FOX INOVA MATT should be mixed with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm before use.

  4. 4

    Dilution

FOX INOVA MATT can be diluted by adding a maximum of 15% water.

  5. 5

    Application

At least 6 hours after priming the surface, FOX INOVA MATT is applied with a suitable roller or spray machine. A brush is recommended for painting corners and edges. After the first coat has dried (min. 6 hours), a second coat is applied using the same method.

  6. 6

    Cleaning of Tools

After application, tools and equipment used should be cleaned with water.

Important

To prevent lap marks and overlaps, application must be carried out wet-on-wet in a single pass.

Critical

During and after application, the surface must be protected from all external influences such as rain, water and mechanical impact for 24 hours.

Important

When taking breaks during the day, packaging lids must always be closed.

Critical

Rooms where application is carried out must be well ventilated. A mask, gloves and protective goggles must be worn during application.

Critical

No paint should be applied to dirty or damp surfaces. The surface must be prepared according to the type of paint to be applied.

Critical

Paints must not be applied in very hot or very cold conditions. The recommended air and surface application temperature is between +5°C and +30°C.

Important

When cleaning stains on walls, the entire wall must be wiped down, not just the stained area. Cleaning only the stained section may cause localised sheen differences on the surface.

Critical

For new cement-plastered or bare concrete surfaces being painted for the first time, the earliest application should be made after 28 days.

Important

The dilution ratios stated on the product label must be observed. Over-diluting the product causes hiding power, roller mark and waviness problems. Under-diluting creates the risk of thick application; cracks may occur in thickly applied paint.

Critical

No powder or liquid additives should be added to the paint, and it must not be diluted beyond the dilution ratio stated on the packaging.

Important

During paint application, cutting-in at doors, windows and ceiling-wall junctions should be done first, followed immediately by roller application without interruption.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames. These areas must be ventilated.

Critical

The product must not come into contact with skin or eyes. In case of contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Keep out of reach of children.

Important

In unopened packaging, the product can be stored for 12 months in a cool, dry place, protected from frost and direct sunlight.
