Product Description

FOX DECODUR MAXIMA is an acrylic-based, silicone-modified exterior facade paint with high water-repellent properties, developed for a wide variety of surfaces. Thanks to its silicone additive, it combines maximum water repellency with water vapour permeability (breathability). Its special additives provide protection against algae and fungal growth. Its alkali-resistant composition prevents saponification. It can be used on thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS), concrete, fair-faced concrete, aerated concrete, brick, render and similar mineral surfaces, as well as chipboard and many other substrates. It is also suitable for the renovation of load-bearing old aerated concrete coatings and aerated concrete assembly components. The product offers a matt appearance and has been tested in accordance with EN ISO 1524, EN 1062-1, EN 1062-3, EN ISO 7783-2 and EN ISO 2813 standards.

Advantages

  • Provides high water repellency thanks to the silicone additive.
  • Offers maximum water resistance and breathability.
  • Allows application on a wide variety of surfaces.
  • Provides a surface protected against algae and fungal growth thanks to special additives.
  • Resistant to harsh outdoor conditions and long-lasting.
  • Adheres well to most facade surfaces.
  • Alkali-resistant, therefore does not saponify.

Usage Areas

  • Thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS)
  • Concrete, fair-faced concrete
  • Aerated concrete, brick
  • Render and similar mineral surfaces
  • Chipboard and many other surfaces
  • Renovation of load-bearing old aerated concrete coatings and aerated concrete assembly components

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The surface to be coated must be sound, dry, dust-free and clean. There must be no loose particles on the surface; all residues that could reduce adhesion, such as oil, grease and dirt, must be removed. To achieve a uniformly coloured coating, the absorbency of the substrate must be consistent across the entire surface.

  2. 2

    Priming

On old mineral renders and concrete: slightly absorbent, smooth surfaces should be primed with FOX DECODUR PRIMER; porous, absorbent, slightly sandy surfaces should be primed with FOX PRIMERA® FL220 or FOX UNIPRIMER FL555. On old matt coatings: moderately absorbent surfaces should be primed with FOX DECODUR PRIMER diluted with a maximum of 3% water; porous, absorbent, slightly sandy surfaces should be primed with FOX PRIMERA® FL220 or FOX UNIPRIMER FL555. On glossy and water-repellent (hydrophobic) surfaces: if necessary, the surface should be mechanically abraded, then primed with FOX UNIPRIMER FL555. On aerated concrete with load-bearing old coatings: after cleaning the surface, prime with FOX DECODUR PRIMER or FOX UNIPRIMER FL555.

  3. 3

    Mixing

FOX DECODUR MAXIMA should be mixed with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm before use.

  4. 4

    Dilution

A maximum of 10% water may be added to FOX DECODUR MAXIMA. To avoid shade variations, ensure that all units are diluted at the same ratio.

  5. 5

    Application

At least 6 hours after priming, FOX DECODUR MAXIMA is diluted with a maximum of 10% water for the intermediate coat and a maximum of 5% for the finishing coat, then applied using a suitable roller or spray machine. A brush is recommended for corners and edges. Depending on weather conditions, a second coat is applied approximately 6 hours later using the same method to complete the process. Apply the coating wet-on-wet in a single pass to prevent streaking. Do not apply in rainy weather.

  6. 6

    Drying Time

At 20°C and 65% relative humidity, recoating can be carried out after approximately 6 hours. Full cure is achieved after approximately 3 days. These times are extended at lower temperatures and higher humidity.

  7. 7

    Tool Cleaning

Tools and equipment used after application should be cleaned with water. Once FOX DECODUR MAXIMA has hardened, it can only be removed from surfaces mechanically. During work breaks, tools should be kept in the paint or submerged in water.

Critical

Do not apply to exterior facades in rainy weather. Protect surfaces from rain for 12 hours before and after paint application. In cool weather, this period should extend to 48 hours.

Critical

To prevent lap marks, application must be carried out wet-on-wet in a single pass.

Critical

FOX DECODUR MAXIMA may be applied at least 6 hours after the surface has been primed.

Critical

A maximum of 10% water may be added to FOX DECODUR MAXIMA. To avoid shade variations, ensure that all units are diluted at the same ratio.

Important

The dilution ratios stated on the product label must be observed. Over-dilution of the product causes coverage, roller mark and waviness problems. Under-dilution creates the risk of thick application; cracks may occur in thickly applied paint.

Important

Always use material from the same batch number on large surfaces.

Information

On dark colour shades, mechanical stress may cause light-coloured lines (writing effect). This is a product-specific characteristic of all matt facade paints.

Information

On dense, cold surfaces or when drying is delayed due to weather conditions, auxiliary substances may form yellowish/transparent, slightly glossy and sticky run marks on the coating surface due to exposure to moisture (rain, dew, fog). These auxiliary substances are water-soluble and are removed naturally with sufficient water.

Important

Can be stored for 3 years in its unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost and direct sunlight. Close the packaging lid immediately after use so that it is airtight.

Important

For short-term storage, a maximum of 3 pallets may be stacked on top of each other and shipment should follow a first-in, first-out system. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.

Critical

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations must be worn. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. In case of ingestion, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Must be stored out of reach of children.

Important

Always close packaging lids during breaks throughout the day.
