Product Description
FOX SSL® 138 SCREED BINDER is a fast-curing screed cement suitable for indoor and outdoor use, walkable after 4 hours and ready for tiling with ceramic and natural stone. It complies with TS EN 13813:2004 standard class CT-C40-F5, providing C40 class ≥40 N/mm² compressive strength and F5 class ≥5 N/mm² flexural strength. The product is mixed with water only; no plasticisers or different cements should be added to the mix. Working time at 20°C is 60 minutes. Ceramic and natural stone coverings can be applied after 4 hours, while elastic and textile-based materials such as parquet, PVC, and carpet require a waiting period of 2 days. In underfloor heating systems, it significantly reduces the drying waiting time compared to conventional screeds; heating can be started 3 days after application.
Key Benefits
- Shortens project delivery times as ceramic and natural stone can be covered after 4 hours.
- Elastic coverings such as parquet, PVC, and carpet can be applied after 2 days, offering a fast-track schedule.
- Significantly reduces the drying waiting time in underfloor heating systems.
- Guarantees high compressive and flexural strength through compliance with TS EN 13813:2004 CT-C40-F5 standard.
- Long-lasting floor performance is achieved thanks to high aggregate loading capacity and high abrasion resistance.

Application Steps
- 1
Mixing
Pour the amount of water indicated on the packaging into a clean mixing container. Slowly add FOX SSL® 138 SCREED BINDER into the water and mix with an electric mixer and a suitable mixing paddle at 600/1000 rpm for 3–4 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Do not allow the material to clump at the bottom of the bucket; break up any lumps. Wait approximately 1 minute, then mix for a further 1 minute before use.
- 2
Mixing Ratios
For 150 kg of mix: 25 kg FOX SSL® 138 SCREED BINDER + 125 kg 0–8 mm sand + 6–11 litres of water (water ratio may vary depending on the moisture content of the sand; a trial mix must always be carried out). Approximately 6–11 litres of water per 25 kg/1 bag of product, or approximately 240–440 mL of water per 1 kg of product.
- 3
Application
Ensure that the mixing container or machine hopper is not overfilled and observe only the manufacturer's level limits. No plasticisers or other additional admixtures or different cements should be added to the mix. Application time is approximately 1 hour; mixing, transporting, spreading, screeding, and finishing must be carried out consecutively. The finishing and starting points of screeds must be connected with nails or similar fasteners, and the necessary joints or expansion joints must always be made. Ceramic and similar coverings can be applied after 4 hours; for parquet, carpet, PVC, etc., a waiting period of approximately 2 days is required. The water/cement ratio should be approximately 0.44.

Underfloor Heating Systems
FOX SSL® 138 SCREED BINDER significantly reduces the screed drying waiting time in underfloor heating systems. Heating can be started 3 days after application; the heating temperature for the first 3 days should be 25°C, then it should be set to maximum temperature and left for 4 days. The surface temperature during the application of the covering must not fall below 15°C.

Tool and Equipment Cleaning
Tools and equipment used should be cleaned immediately with water after application.
Mix with water only. No plasticisers or other additional admixtures or different cements should be added to the mix.
FOX SSL® 138 SCREED BINDER must be applied within 60 minutes at 20°C.
During application and curing, the ambient temperature must be above +10°C and the relative humidity must be below 70%.
In outdoor applications, the surface must be protected from sunlight, wind, rain, or frost for the first 24 hours after application. In such cases, a polyethylene cover or FOX ACURE FR 570 should be applied.
In underfloor heating systems, heating can be started 3 days after application. The heating temperature for the first 3 days should be 25°C. It should then be set to maximum temperature and left for 4 days. The surface temperature during the application of the covering must not fall below 15°C.
Although ready for ceramic and similar coverings after 4 hours, heavy loads such as machinery and pallets must not be placed on the screed as 100% strength has not yet been reached.
In cold weather applications, the ambient and substrate temperature should be raised, and packaging should be kept at +20°C – 25°C to bring it to ready-to-use condition.
The finishing and starting points of screeds or partial areas must be connected to each other with nails or similar fasteners; joints or expansion joints that are required under normal conditions must always be made.
Rain, dust, wind, animals, and pests must be prevented from entering the building while the covering is fresh.
When stored correctly at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C, the shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture.
Store in original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost. For short-term storage, stack no more than 3 pallets high. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.
During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; areas must be ventilated. Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
Consumption figures are given for ideal conditions assuming an ambient and surface temperature of 20°C. Actual consumption may vary depending on surface texture and ambient temperature. It should be noted that consumption will increase on uneven surfaces and in cold weather conditions.
The working and reaction times of cement-based systems are affected by ambient and substrate temperature and relative humidity. High temperatures shorten the time; low temperatures extend it.
