Product Description
FOX PROCRETE® TOPCOAT is a two-component surface protection material obtained by modifying polyurethane-based resins with special additives and chemicals, formulated with resin-specific fillers. Designed for use in both wet and dry environments, the product exhibits excellent chemical resistance, thermal shock resistance and solvent resistance. It is applied as the topcoat in FOX PROCRETE® series floor systems; its zero-permeability characteristic means it has no surface absorption. With its low VOC emissions and hygienic monolithic structure, it meets the most demanding applications in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. It provides outstanding resistance to a wide chemical spectrum ranging from concentrated inorganic-organic acids to alkalis and solvents. The application thickness is limited to 120 gr/m² (100 microns) per coat and must be applied in two coats.
Advantages
- Temperature Resistance: Does not lose its properties under high temperatures against liquid spills; repeated thermal shocks under liquid-vapour effects do not cause blistering or delamination.
- VOC and Odour: Produces very low emissions in VOC emission chamber tests; complies with all emission requirements for indoor floor systems. Does not pose a risk of leaving odour on foodstuffs.
- Chemical Resistance: Provides outstanding resistance to a wide spectrum of chemicals, from concentrated inorganic and organic acids to alkalis and solvents.
- Permeability: Exhibits zero permeability; no surface absorption.
- Cleanliness and Hygiene: Suitable for steam or hot-water cleaning; a hygienic product. Does not create an environment conducive to bacterial or fungal growth.
Usage Areas
- In the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries
- In areas requiring chemical and mechanical resistance
- In production areas
- In packaging areas
- In wineries and breweries
- In industrial kitchens
- In water treatment facilities
- In laboratories
- In storage areas
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
The substrate temperature must be a minimum of +8°C. Care must be taken to ensure the substrate is at least +3°C above the dew point. The substrate must be clean, dry and free from all foreign matter such as dirt, oil, grease, coatings and surface curing compounds.
- 2
Checking Application Conditions
Surface temperature must be at least +8°C and at most +30°C; ambient temperature at least +10°C and at most +30°C; material temperature at least +15°C and at most +25°C. Dew formation and condensation must be avoided.
- 3
Mixing
Before starting to mix, ensure that the product temperatures are between +15°C and +25°C. Add Component C into Component A and mix for 1 minute until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Add Component B to the resulting mixture and mix for a maximum of 3 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Avoid over-mixing to minimise air entrainment. Equipment such as COLLOMIX Xo 55 duo is recommended.
- 4
Application
FOX PROCRETE® TOPCOAT is applied over previously applied FOX PROCRETE® series floor systems using a roller or airless spray machine. The application thickness must not exceed 120 gr/m² (100 microns) per coat and must be applied in two coats.
- 5
Tool Cleaning
After application, tools and equipment used must be cleaned with solvent. Once FOX PROCRETE® TOPCOAT has cured, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.
If the ambient and surface temperature is below +10°C or above +30°C, application must not be carried out; appropriate temperatures must be awaited.
The substrate temperature must be a minimum of +8°C; care must also be taken to ensure the substrate is at least +3°C above the dew point.
Beware of dew and condensation! Dew formation and water vapour condensation on uncoated or freshly coated surfaces will damage the coating.
FOX PROCRETE® TOPCOAT Component A freezes below 0°C; particular attention must be paid to storage conditions.
After mixing, the material should be allowed to rest and then mixed again.
The application thickness must not exceed 120 gr/m² (100 microns) per coat and must be applied in two coats.
Application must not be carried out in excessively hot, rainy or windy weather.
Materials to be used on the application area should be brought to the site and stored 1–2 days in advance to allow them to acclimatise to ambient conditions.
Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.
Open flames near storage and application areas are dangerous; storage and application areas must be ventilated.
Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. In case of contact with skin or eyes, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
For short-term storage, stack no more than 3 pallets high and apply a first-in, first-out dispatch system. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of one another.
The working and reaction times of polyurethane-based systems are affected by ambient temperature, substrate temperature and relative humidity; reaction slows at low temperatures and accelerates at high temperatures.
