Product Description
FOX EPOTHANE® ACC is a material that accelerates the chemical reaction and curing time of epoxy-based products. It is designed for use in epoxy-based systems such as the FOX EPOTHANE® PRIMER series, BASECOAT series, TOPCOAT EU, COLORTOP and FOX EPOXYFUGA FX142.
Advantages
- Easy to use.
- Significantly reduces curing time.
Usage Areas
- FOX EPOTHANE® PRIMER series
- FOX EPOTHANE® BASECOAT series
- FOX EPOTHANE® TOPCOAT EU
- FOX EPOTHANE® COLORTOP
- FOX EPOXYFUGA FX142
Application Steps
- 1
Substrate and Ambient Preparation
Before application, ensure that the concrete surface is at least 3 weeks old. A vapour barrier layer must be installed on ground-bearing slabs. The building's roof, walls, doors and windows must be completed. Check that the ambient and surface temperature is between a minimum of +10°C and a maximum of +30°C.
- 2
Material Acclimatisation
Materials to be used should be brought to the application site 1–2 days in advance and allowed to acclimatise to ambient conditions. In cold weather, packaging should be kept at +20°C – +25°C to bring the products to a workable condition before use.
- 3
Mixing the Epoxy-Based Material
Mix the epoxy-based material whose curing time you wish to accelerate using an electric mixer at 300–400 rpm and the specified mixing tip, in accordance with the information stated in the relevant technical documentation.
- 4
Addition of FOX EPOTHANE® ACC
Add FOX EPOTHANE® ACC at a maximum of 5% by weight of the mixed product. Adjust the dosage according to ambient temperature, humidity and material quantity.
- 5
Final Mixing and Application
Mix the material until homogeneous. As pot life will be shortened, apply the material immediately and quickly. After application, the coating must be protected from direct water contact for at least 24 hours.
After application, the coating must be protected from direct water contact for at least 24 hours. If water contact occurs, the coating will soften and blister, losing its properties; in this case the coating must be completely removed and reapplied.
The surface, ambient and material temperature must be a minimum of +10°C and a maximum of +30°C.
A maximum of 5% by weight of the A+B component must be used. The amount used should be adjusted according to temperature, humidity and material quantity.
Mixing must be carried out with an electric mixer at 300–400 rpm and the specified epoxy/polyurethane resin mixing tip. Otherwise, air will be entrained into the product, causing air bubbles on the coating after application.
Concrete surfaces to be coated with epoxy/polyurethane must be at least 3 weeks old prior to application; a vapour barrier layer must be installed on ground-bearing slabs; and the building's roof, walls, doors and windows must be completed.
Materials to be used should be brought to the application site 1–2 days in advance and allowed to acclimatise to ambient conditions.
In cold weather, packaging should be kept at +20°C – +25°C to bring the products to a workable condition before use.
Rain, dust, wind, animals and insects must be prevented from entering the building while the coating is still fresh.
In resin-based systems, pot life and curing times are affected by ambient temperature, substrate temperature and air humidity. Curing slows at low temperatures and accelerates at high temperatures.
Store in the original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost. When stored between +5°C and +30°C, away from direct sunlight, the shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.
Open flames near storage and application areas are dangerous; these areas must be ventilated. Wear protective clothing, gloves, goggles and a mask during application. In case of contact with skin or eyes, wash thoroughly with water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Keep out of reach of children.
