Product Description

FOX DECOUPLING MEMBRANE FF480 is a load-decoupling membrane consisting of two different polypropylene fleece layers with a fibreglass woven fabric in between. It provides floor stabilisation and prevents cracks that may form in the substrate from bridging through to the surface covering. It can be applied under natural stone, ceramic, cement and resin-based coverings in interior and exterior applications. With a thickness of 0.85 mm and a weight of 235 g/m², it forms a robust intermediate layer; its service temperature range of -30°C to +90°C ensures performance across a wide range of climatic conditions.

Advantages

  • Easy to apply.
  • Does not transfer movements or cracks occurring in the substrate to the upper layer.
  • Bridges cracks.
  • Resistant to various chemicals. Has high alkali resistance.
  • Provides excellent compatibility with FOX INNO-FIX ceramic adhesives.
  • Offers solutions for all types of details.

Usage Areas

  • Can be used under natural stone, ceramic, cement and resin-based coverings in interior and exterior applications.

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The surface to be treated must be sound and free from all substances that may impair adhesion, such as oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint and bitumen residues, and all loose particles must be removed.

  2. 2

    Membrane Preparation

The load-decoupling membrane rolls are prepared for application and cut to size according to the area to be covered.

  3. 3

    Adhesive Preparation

FOX INNO-FIX class C2TES1/C2TES2 ceramic adhesive is prepared taking into account the water quantity specified on the packaging.

  4. 4

    Adhesive Application

A 4 mm x 4 mm notched trowel must be used for applying the adhesive. The ceramic adhesive is applied to the surface using the notched side of the trowel.

  5. 5

    Membrane Installation

The load-decoupling membrane is easily rolled out and applied over the ceramic adhesive on the substrate. Pressure is applied over the membrane using a spatula or grout float, taking care to ensure no air pockets remain beneath the membrane.

  6. 6

    Joints

FOX TRIPLETAPE 120 is applied at membrane joints.

  7. 7

    Surface Levelling

For fine surface levelling over the membrane, FOX INNO-FIX class C2TES1/C2TES2 ceramic adhesive is applied to the surface using the skim-coat method.

  8. 8

    Floor Covering

After all these steps, the floor covering phase can begin.

Critical

The ceramic adhesive used to bond FOX DECOUPLING MEMBRANE FF480 to the surface must be a minimum class C2TES1/C2TES2.

Critical

FOX DECOUPLING MEMBRANE FF480 must be applied within the open time of the ceramic adhesive. Otherwise, adhesion failure may occur.

Critical

Care must be taken to ensure no voids are left between the membrane, the ceramic adhesive and the substrate.

Important

Sharp and pointed hand tools must not be used when bonding FOX DECOUPLING MEMBRANE FF480 to the substrate. Cuts and holes in the membrane surface must be avoided.

Important

In areas with high substrate moisture, the substrate must be allowed to dry before application.

Information

The working and reaction times of ceramic tile adhesives are affected by air temperature, humidity and substrate temperature.

Information

It is recommended to use INNO-FIX series ceramic adhesives when covering with ceramic, marble and similar products.

Important

Store in original unopened packaging in a cool, dry environment, protected from frost. For short-term storage, stack no more than 2 pallets high. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flame. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.

Important

Appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations must be worn during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
