Product Description

FOX POLYFLEX FX119 is a high-performance adhesive composed of special cement, mineral fillers and polymer additives, with a fluid consistency, easy spreadability and a long working time. It is designed for bonding large-format ceramic, granite, natural stone and marble to concrete surfaces and is suitable for all climatic conditions. It meets the TS EN 12004-1:2017 C2ES1 standard, incorporating C2 (improved cementitious adhesive with additional characteristics), E (extended open time) and S1 (flexible) properties. It is suitable for horizontal applications indoors and outdoors, on underfloor-heated and industrial floors, in wet areas, on balconies and terraces. Service temperature ranges from -20°C to +80°C and it is resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.

Advantages

  • Fluid consistency — extremely easy to apply.
  • Flexible — unaffected by vibrations.
  • Does not shrink.
  • Accommodates and withstands floor stresses caused by temperature differentials.
  • Application speed increases as there is no need to back-butter the tiles.
  • Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.

Usage Areas

  • For horizontal applications indoors and outdoors
  • On underfloor-heated and industrial floors
  • For bonding granite, ceramic, marble, natural stone, slate, cotto and floor tiles to smooth or uneven concrete surfaces
  • In shopping centres
  • In hotels and hospitals
  • On balconies, terraces and in wet areas
  • For tile-on-tile bonding in renovation and repair works

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Surfaces to be treated must be sound, free of dust and dirt, and level. Areas requiring repair must be repaired at least 1 day in advance using INNO-CRETE series repair mortars. If the surface temperature exceeds +30°C, the surface should be lightly dampened.

  2. 2

    Mixing

The amount of water indicated on the packaging (approximately 5.75 lt ± 0.25 for a 25 kg bag) is poured into a clean mixing container. FOX POLYFLEX FX119 is added slowly to the water and mixed with a drill mixer at 400–600 rpm for approximately 3–4 minutes until homogeneous. No lumps should remain. The material is left to rest for 3 minutes, then mixed for a further 1 minute before use.

  3. 3

    Application

FOX POLYFLEX FX119 is poured from the mixing container onto the floor and spread in one direction with a large-notched trowel to achieve a uniform thickness. Within the open time of 30 minutes, ceramic tiles or granite slabs are placed using the floating method to ensure full contact between the covering and the adhesive. Application is completed leaving the recommended joint spacing according to the size of the ceramic or granite. Grouting can begin approximately 12 hours later.

  4. 4

    Applicability Test

Press a finger onto the adhesive on the application surface. If the adhesive sticks to the finger, tile installation can continue. If it does not stick, the working time has passed; the adhesive must be scraped from the surface and fresh adhesive applied.

  5. 5

    Tool Cleaning

Tools and equipment used must be cleaned with water after application. Once FOX POLYFLEX FX119 has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface by mechanical means.

Critical

Do not apply if ambient or surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C; wait until suitable temperatures are reached.

Critical

Do not apply in extremely hot, rainy or very windy weather.

Critical

For outdoor applications, protect from sunlight, rain, wind and frost for the first 24 hours.

Important

Working and reaction times of ceramic tile adhesives are affected by air temperature, humidity and substrate temperature. High temperatures shorten working time; low temperatures extend it.

Important

To allow the material to cure fully, the substrate and ambient temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.

Important

If the surface temperature exceeds +30°C, the surface should be lightly dampened.

Critical

The open time of 30 minutes must not be exceeded. If the adhesive does not stick to the fingers, the working time has passed; scrape the adhesive from the surface and apply fresh adhesive.

Important

Store the product between +5°C and +30°C, away from direct sunlight, in a cool and dry environment. Opened packaging must be used within 1 week.

Critical

Wear work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask during application. In case of contact with skin or eyes, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.

Important

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; areas must be ventilated.

Information

For short-term storage, stack no more than 3 pallets high and dispatch on a first-in, first-out basis. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of one another.

Information

The technical values above are given for conditions of +23°C and 50% relative humidity.
