Product Description

FOX CERAPOL® FX111 is a cement-based tile and ceramic adhesive mortar containing special cement, mineral fillers and polymer additives. The product meets the TS EN 12004-1:2017/C1TE standard and carries the classifications C1 (cement-based normal-setting adhesive), T (reduced slip) and E (extended open time). Thanks to its formulation suitable for all climatic conditions, it can be used safely on interior and exterior surfaces, both horizontal and vertical. It is designed for ceramic and tile covering materials with a maximum size of 45 cm × 45 cm and a water absorption rate above 3%. The application thickness is 3–10 mm and the pot life is approximately 5 hours. Grouting and foot traffic are permitted after 24 hours.

Advantages

  • Easy to prepare and apply.
  • Saves time and labour thanks to its long working time.
  • Does not slip in vertical applications.

Usage Areas

  • For interior and exterior, vertical and horizontal applications
  • On all types of concrete screed, plaster, screed and cement-based surfaces
  • For laying small and medium-sized ceramic and tile covering materials with a water absorption rate above 3%
  • For covering materials with a maximum size of 45 cm × 45 cm

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Cement-based surfaces to be treated must be sound, free from all dust and dirt, and level. Areas requiring repair must be repaired at least 1 day in advance using INNO-CRETE series repair mortars. If the surface temperature exceeds +25°C, the surface should be lightly dampened.

  2. 2

    Mixing

The appropriate amount of water indicated on the packaging is placed in a clean mixing container. FOX CERAPOL® FX111 is slowly added to the water and mixed with a mixing drill at 400–600 rpm for approximately 3–5 minutes until homogeneous. No lumps should remain in the material. After a maturation period of 3 minutes, mix for a further 1 minute before use.

  3. 3

    Mixing Ratios

Grey: ~7.25±0.25 l of water per 25 kg (1 bag); ~290±10 ml of water per 1 kg. White: ~7.75±0.25 l of water per 25 kg (1 bag); ~310±10 ml of water per 1 kg.

  4. 4

    Application

Using the flat side of the trowel, apply a 1 mm layer of FOX CERAPOL® FX111 to the application surface. Within the open time of 30 minutes, use the notched side of the trowel to comb the adhesive in one direction over the area to be covered, achieving a uniform thickness. For ceramic tiles or tiles of varying thickness, it is recommended to apply an additional 1 mm layer of mortar to the back of each piece. Ceramics and tiles are floated into the adhesive mortar to ensure full contact. Application is completed leaving appropriate joint spacing. INNO-FIX series should be used for grouting. Grouting can begin approximately 24 hours later.

  5. 5

    Workability Test

Press a finger onto the adhesive surface within the open time. If the adhesive sticks to the finger, application can continue. If it does not stick, the open time has elapsed; the adhesive must be scraped off and fresh mortar applied.

  6. 6

    Tool and Equipment Cleaning

Tools and equipment used after application should be cleaned with water. Once FOX CERAPOL® FX111 has hardened, it can only be removed from surfaces mechanically.

Critical

Application should not be carried out if the ambient or surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C; appropriate temperatures must be awaited.

Critical

Application should not be carried out in extremely hot, rainy or very windy weather.

Critical

For outdoor applications, the surface must be protected from sunlight, rain, wind and frost for the first 24 hours.

Critical

If the adhesive does not stick to a finger, the open time has elapsed; the adhesive must be scraped off the surface and fresh adhesive applied.

Important

Working and reaction times of ceramic adhesive mortars are affected by air temperature, humidity and substrate temperature. High temperatures shorten the working time; low temperatures extend it.

Important

The substrate temperature and ambient temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature for the material to complete its curing.

Important

The product must be stored in its original unopened packaging in a dry and cool environment (between +5°C and +30°C), protected from sunlight and frost. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Important

Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Critical

Protective clothing, gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.

Information

The technical values above are given for conditions of +23°C and 50% relative humidity.
