Product Description

FOX BETONAGE® POLYMER is a liquid polymer binder based on a water-based copolymer emulsion and produced from special polymers. It is formulated specifically for use mixed in defined ratios with the FOX BETONAGE® BASECOAT and FOX BETONAGE® FINISHCOAT components. It can be applied within the FOX BETONAGE® system indoors and outdoors, on vertical and horizontal surfaces, on underfloor-heated screeds, and on balconies and terraces.

Key Benefits

  • Fully compatible with the FOX BETONAGE® system; can be used directly with the BASECOAT and FINISHCOAT products.
  • Increases adhesion, producing long-lasting and robust coating surfaces.
  • Reduces water absorption, protecting floor and wall coatings against moisture and water.
  • Increases chemical resistance, raising coating performance in demanding environments.
  • Increases scratch resistance, strengthening the mechanical durability of the surface.
  • Gives flexibility to the product it is mixed with, providing resistance to cracking caused by thermal movement and working.

Advantages

  • Easy to prepare and apply.
  • Increases adhesion.
  • Reduces water absorption.
  • Increases chemical resistance.
  • Increases scratch resistance.
  • Makes the product it is mixed with more flexible.

Areas of Use

  • In indoor and outdoor, vertical and horizontal applications
  • On underfloor-heated screeds, balconies and terraces
  • Can be used within the FOX BETONAGE® system

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Care must be taken to ensure that the surfaces to be treated are sound, dry, dust-free and clean. The surface must be thoroughly cleaned of any oil, grease, rust and paraffin residues that would weaken adhesion, and freed of loose particles.

  2. 2

    Mixing Ratios

8.6 kg of POLYMER must be used for 25 kg of FOX BETONAGE® BASECOAT BC powder; 8.6 kg of POLYMER for 20 kg of FOX BETONAGE® FINISHCOAT HP powder; and 8.6 kg of POLYMER for 17.5 kg of FOX BETONAGE® FINISHCOAT FC powder. (Per unit: 344 g of POLYMER per 1 kg of BASECOAT BC, 430 g per 1 kg of FINISHCOAT HP, 491 g per 1 kg of FINISHCOAT FC.)

  3. 3

    Mixing

FOX BETONAGE® POLYMER is poured into a clean mixing container. FOX DOMINO® COLOR WB is weighed out according to the desired colour, added to the polymer and mixed until a homogeneous colour is obtained. The FOX BETONAGE® BASECOAT or FINISHCOAT bag is then opened and added slowly to the polymer while mixing with a 400-600 rpm mixing drill for approximately 3 minutes until homogeneous. After the material has rested for 60 seconds, it is mixed again for 1 minute to make it ready for application. There must be no lumps in the material.

  4. 4

    FOX BETONAGE® BASECOAT Application

The preferred colour pigment is added to the prepared polymer and mixed until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. FOX BETONAGE® BASECOAT is then added and mixed for 3-4 minutes at 600-1000 rpm. After waiting approximately 1 minute, it is mixed for a further 1 minute to make it ready for use. The application surface is dampened, the homogeneous mixture is poured onto the surface and spread with a suitable trowel. Once the material has dried, the surface is sanded with 60-grit abrasive, vacuumed free of dust and wiped with a damp cloth.

  5. 5

    FOX BETONAGE® FINISHCOAT Application

The preferred colour pigment is added to the prepared polymer and mixed until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. FOX BETONAGE® FINISHCOAT is then added and mixed for 3-4 minutes at 600-1000 rpm. After waiting approximately 1 minute, it is mixed for a further 1 minute to make it ready for use. The application surface is dampened, the homogeneous mixture is poured onto the surface and spread with a suitable trowel. Once the material has dried, the surface is sanded with 120-mesh abrasive, vacuumed free of dust and wiped with a damp cloth.

  6. 6

    Tool Cleaning

After application, the tools and equipment used must be cleaned with water. Once FOX BETONAGE® POLYMER has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.

Critical

If the ambient and surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C, the product must not be applied and suitable temperatures must be awaited.

Critical

The freshly applied product must be protected from sunlight and wind so that it does not dry too quickly.

Critical

The product must not be applied in extremely hot, rainy or windy weather.

Important

The materials to be used must be brought to the application area and stored there 1-2 days in advance so that they acclimatise to the ambient conditions.

Important

For applications in extremely cold weather, the ambient and floor temperature must be raised with heaters, and the materials to be used must be conditioned at +20°C / +25°C to make them ready for application.

Critical

For the material to complete its curing, the ambient and floor temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.

Important

Different polymer ratios and different mixing methods may cause unwanted colour differences.

Info

Once FOX BETONAGE® POLYMER has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.

Important

Opened packaging must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

It must be stored in its unopened original packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost. For short-term storage, a maximum of 3 pallets may be stacked; for long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked.

Critical

Approaching storage and application areas with a naked flame is dangerous. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.

Critical

Work clothes, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be used during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash with plenty of water and soap, and in case of ingestion consult a doctor immediately.

Important

Food and drink must not be brought into the application areas. Store out of the reach of children.
