Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Concrete substrates to be coated must be prepared using abrasive equipment (shot blasting, milling, diamond grinding, etc.) to remove the cement laitance and achieve an open-pored surface. Weak concrete fragments must be removed from the surface, and small voids and holes must be fully opened. The resulting dust must be cleaned with an industrial vacuum. The substrate compressive strength must be at least 25 N/mm², tensile strength at least 1.5 N/mm², moisture content maximum 4%, and substrate temperature minimum +5°C. Care must also be taken to ensure the substrate temperature is at least +3°C above the dew point.

  2. 2

    Mixing

Pour the amount of polymer indicated on the packaging (approximately 400 g per 1 kg of product) into a clean mixing container. Add the colour pigment (approximately 28 g per 1 kg of polymer) to the polymer and mix until homogeneous. Then slowly add FOX BETONAGE® FINISHCOAT HP into the polymer and mix with an electric mixer at 600/1000 rpm for 3–4 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Do not allow lumps to form at the bottom of the bucket. Wait approximately 1 minute, then mix for a further 1 minute before use.

  3. 3

    Application

Dampen the surface to be coated. Pour the homogeneous mixture onto the surface and spread it using a suitable trowel. Once the material has dried, sand the surface with 60/80 grit sandpaper. After sanding is complete, clean the surface dust with a vacuum cleaner and wipe with a damp cloth.

  4. 4

    Cleaning of Tools

Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned with water. Once FOX BETONAGE® FINISHCOAT HP has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.

Critical

Do not apply if the ambient or surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C; wait for suitable temperatures.

Critical

The freshly applied product must be protected from sunlight and wind to prevent rapid drying. Do not apply in excessively hot, rainy, or windy weather.

Critical

To allow the material to cure properly, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.

Important

Materials to be used on the application area should be brought to the site and stored 1–2 days in advance to allow them to acclimatise to the ambient conditions.

Important

In extremely cold weather, the ambient and substrate temperature should be raised using heaters; materials to be used should be conditioned at +20°C – +25°C and made ready for application.

Important

After mixing, the material should be allowed to rest and then mixed again.

Important

Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

Store in original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost.

Critical

Approaching storage and application areas with open flames is dangerous. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.

Important

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Critical

During storage and application, avoid contact with skin and eyes; if contact occurs, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Information

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
