Product Description

FOX BETONAGE® FINISHCOAT FC is a decorative topcoat material with a special cement structure reinforced with mineral fillers and polymers, applicable to horizontal and vertical surfaces. Formulated for application on any surface and object in interior and exterior environments, the product provides a long-lasting surface with UV resistance and waterproofing. Offering 18 different colour options, the product is applied in shops, showrooms, offices, hotels, restaurants, cafés, residences, shopping centres, museums and galleries. The 28-day compressive strength is ≥10 N/mm², flexural strength ≥5 N/mm² and adhesion strength to concrete ≥1 N/mm². After application, the system is completed with FOX DOMINO® AC SEALER FD791 primer and FOX PURATHANE® TOPCOAT WB transparent topcoat.

Usage Areas

  • In shops and showrooms
  • In offices
  • In hotels, restaurants and cafés
  • In residences
  • In shopping centres
  • In museums and galleries

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Concrete substrates to be coated must be prepared using abrasive equipment (shot blasting, milling, diamond grinding, etc.) to remove the cement laitance and achieve an open-porous surface. Weak concrete fragments must be removed from the surface, and small voids and holes must be fully opened. The resulting dust must be cleaned with an industrial vacuum. The substrate must be clean, dry and free from dirt, oil, grease, coatings and surface curing compounds that would impair adhesion. The substrate compressive strength must be at least 25 N/mm², tensile strength at least 1.5 N/mm², moisture content maximum 4%, temperature minimum +5°C; ensure the substrate is at least +3°C above the dew point.

  2. 2

    Mixing

Pour the amount of polymer indicated on the packaging into a clean mixing container. Add the specified proportion of colour pigment into the polymer and mix until homogeneous. Then gradually add FOX BETONAGE® FINISHCOAT FC and mix with an electric mixer at 600–1000 rpm for 3–4 minutes. Do not allow lumps to form at the bottom of the bucket. Wait approximately 1 minute, then mix for a further 1 minute and make ready for use. Mixing ratios: approximately 485 g polymer per 1 kg product; approximately 28 g colour pigment per 1 kg polymer.

  3. 3

    1st Coat Application

After moistening the application surface, pour the prepared mixture onto the surface and spread it using a suitable trowel. Once the material has dried, sand the surface with 120-grit sandpaper. After sanding is complete, clean the dust with a vacuum cleaner and wipe with a damp cloth. 1st coat consumption: 0.40–0.50 kg/m².

  4. 4

    2nd Coat Application

Before starting the second coat, moisten the application surface so that no dry areas remain. Repeat all steps of the first coat without omission. 2nd coat consumption: 0.25–0.35 kg/m².

  5. 5

    Topcoat and Finishing

After sanding, the surface is primed with FOX DOMINO® AC SEALER FD791 primer, followed by the application of FOX PURATHANE® TOPCOAT WB transparent matt or gloss product to complete the system.

  6. 6

    Tool and Equipment Cleaning

After application, tools and equipment used must be cleaned with water. Once FOX BETONAGE® FINISHCOAT FC has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.

Critical

If the ambient and surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C, application must not be carried out; suitable temperatures must be awaited.

Critical

The freshly applied product must be protected from sunlight and wind to prevent rapid drying. Application must not be carried out in excessively hot, rainy or windy weather.

Critical

For the material to complete its curing, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.

Important

Materials to be used on the application area should be brought and stored 1–2 days in advance to allow them to acclimatise to the ambient conditions.

Important

In extremely cold weather, the ambient and substrate temperature should be raised using heaters; materials should be conditioned at +20°C/+25°C and made ready for application.

Important

After mixing, the material should be allowed to rest and then mixed again.

Important

Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

Store in the original unopened packaging in a cool, dry environment, protected from frost. For short-term storage, stack no more than 3 pallets high. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.

Critical

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; these areas must be ventilated. Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.

Information

The technical values above are given at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the working time; lower temperatures extend it.
