Product Description

FOX AUFBRENNSPERRE FL230 is a primer that controls water absorption on highly absorbent surfaces, reducing the risk of premature drying (flash drying) in mortars and plasters, and balancing surface absorbency. Thanks to its starch and acrylic dispersion-based formula, it penetrates the surface homogeneously and regulates absorbency. Its solvent-free composition makes it safe for use in both interior and exterior applications. The product is ready to use and is applied without dilution. With a density of 1.04 g/cm³, the yellow-coloured product can be applied at substrate temperatures between +5°C and +25°C. A minimum of 4 hours must be allowed before applying a second coat, and approximately 24 hours are required for full cure.

Key Benefits

  • Provides reliable surface preparation prior to plastering on highly absorbent surfaces such as aerated concrete, lightweight brick, and gypsum plaster.
  • Reduces the risk of premature drying (flash drying) in mortars and plasters caused by sudden water loss.
  • Balances absorbency on mixed walls and surfaces with varying absorbency, contributing to homogeneous adhesion of the plaster coat.
  • Can be safely applied in interior spaces as it contains no solvents.
  • Accelerates work processes thanks to its ready-to-use formula and fast-drying properties.
  • Easily applied by brush, roller, or spray machine; tools are cleaned with water.

Advantages

  • Regulates absorbency.
  • Has fast-drying properties.
  • Ready to use.
  • Not diluted.
  • Solvent-free.

Usage Areas

  • In interior and exterior spaces
  • On aerated concrete, lightweight and perforated brick surfaces
  • On gypsum plaster surfaces
  • On mixed walls and surfaces with varying absorbency
  • On highly absorbent mineral surfaces
  • In surface preparation prior to plastering

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The application surface must be sound, dry, dust-free, and clean. The surface must be thoroughly cleaned of all oil, grease, rust, and paraffin residues that could weaken adhesion; there must be no loose particles on the surface. Ensure the substrate is dry.

  2. 2

    Mixing

FOX AUFBRENNSPERRE FL230 must be thoroughly mixed with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm before use.

  3. 3

    Application

FOX AUFBRENNSPERRE FL230 is poured onto the cleaned and prepared surface. The material is applied homogeneously to the surface using a brush, roller, or spray machine. Ponding on the surface must not be allowed. A second coat may be applied if necessary.

  4. 4

    Cleaning of Tools

After application, all tools and equipment used must be cleaned with water. Once FOX AUFBRENNSPERRE FL230 has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.

Critical

If the substrate temperature is below +5°C or above +25°C, application must not be carried out; wait until suitable temperatures are reached.

Critical

The product is sensitive to frost; it must not be stored or transported below 0°C.

Critical

For the material to complete its cure, the substrate and ambient temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.

Important

For exterior applications, the product must be protected from sunlight, rain, wind, and frost for the first 24 hours. Contamination of the primer during and after application must be prevented.

Important

The product must be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a dry and cool environment (between +5°C and +25°C), protected from sunlight and frost. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Important

Opened packaging must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

Pallets must never be stacked on top of each other during storage. Shipments must follow a first-in, first-out system.

Critical

Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Open flames near storage and application areas are dangerous; areas must be well ventilated.

Information

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.

Information

Technical values are given for conditions of +23°C and 65% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the drying time; lower temperatures extend it.
