Product Description

FOX POLYHAFT FC305 2K is a cement-based, two-component, polymer-modified anti-corrosion coating and adhesion-promoting primer for steel reinforcement. Its special cement structure reinforced with mineral fillers and polymers provides high bond strength. The product has a fresh mortar density of 1.93 g/cm³ and achieves a bond strength of >2.5 N/mm² after 28 days. It can be applied at temperatures between +5°C and +30°C; the pot life at +23°C is approximately 45 minutes. The product can be easily applied by brush or wet spray and is resistant to chloride penetration and freeze-thaw cycles. It is supplied as a two-component set consisting of 25 kg Component A and 6 litres Component B.

Key Benefits

  • Effectively protects steel reinforcement against corrosion, extending the service life of reinforced concrete structures.
  • Provides strong bonding in repair mortar and screed applications with high bond strength (>2.5 N/mm² after 28 days).
  • Maintains performance in harsh climatic conditions thanks to its resistance to freeze-thaw cycles and de-icing salts.
  • Offers long-term protection in aggressive environments due to its chloride-penetration-resistant formulation.
  • Its insensitivity to ambient moisture allows safe use in both interior and exterior projects.
  • Easy application by brush or wet spray saves labour and time.

Advantages

  • Provides high bonding reliability and strong bond strength after proper substrate preparation.
  • Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.
  • Can be easily applied by brush or wet spray system.
  • Resistant to chloride penetration.
  • Resistant to the effects of frost and de-icing salts.
  • Not adversely affected by ambient moisture.
  • High mechanical strength.

Usage Areas

  • For corrosion protection of reinforcement prior to repair mortar application in reinforced concrete repairs
  • As an adhesion-promoting primer before screeding in interior and exterior applications
  • As an adhesion promoter between old and new concrete
  • As an adhesion promoter before render application in interior and exterior applications
  • As an adhesion promoter for repair mortars, ready-mix concretes, rapid-curing screed mortars, drainage and screed mortars, and conventional sand-cement mortars
  • As an adhesion promoter for transparent natural stones that are not insensitive to staining

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The surface to be treated must be sound and free from oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint, and bitumen residues, with all loose particles removed. The surface must be dampened with water prior to application; however, ponding must not be allowed. If the coating material loses its water immediately and takes on a matt appearance during application, it indicates that the surface has not been sufficiently dampened. Application must not be carried out in hot weather or when materials are exposed to wind.

  2. 2

    Mixing

Half of FOX POLYHAFT FC305 Component B is poured into a clean mixing container. Component A is slowly added while mixing with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm for approximately 3–5 minutes. No lumps must remain in the material. The mixture, which reaches a paste consistency, is left to rest for 2 minutes; the remaining Component B is then added and mixed for a further 1–2 minutes until ready for application. Mixing ratio: 25 kg Component A + 6 litres Component B.

  3. 3

    Application

The prepared FOX POLYHAFT FC305 2K mixture is applied in two or three coats using an insulation brush. The direction of brush application for each coat must be perpendicular to the previous one. The waiting time between coats varies depending on ambient conditions. The product must not be allowed to dry out; the screed or cement mortar must be applied immediately, wet-on-wet and compactly.

  4. 4

    Tool Cleaning

All tools and equipment must be washed with water immediately after use. Once FOX POLYHAFT FC305 2K has hardened, it can only be removed mechanically.

Critical

Application must not be carried out if the ambient or surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C; appropriate temperatures must be awaited.

Critical

Application must not be carried out in extremely hot, rainy, or windy weather.

Critical

Do not allow FOX POLYHAFT FC305 2K to dry out! The screed mortar or cement mortar must be applied immediately, wet-on-wet and compactly.

Critical

For exterior surface applications, the surface must be protected from sun, wind, rain, or frost for the first 24 hours.

Important

For the material to complete its curing, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.

Information

FOX POLYHAFT FC305 2K applied at +23°C reaches its final strength after 28 days.

Information

The working and reaction times of cement- and acrylic-based systems are affected by the ambient and substrate temperature and the relative humidity of the air. Reaction slows at low temperatures; high temperatures accelerate the reaction.

Important

When stored at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C, the shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture. Opened packages must be tightly resealed and used within 1 week.

Important

Must be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a cool and dry environment, protected from frost. For short-term storage, a maximum of 3 pallets may be stacked. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; these areas must be ventilated.

Critical

Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn during application. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Must be stored out of reach of children.
