Product Description

FOX CARBOND® FIBER 324 is a unidirectional carbon fibre fabric developed for structural strengthening projects. Containing 24K carbon fibre, this fabric offers a unit weight of 300 g/m² and a nominal thickness of 0.166 mm, yet delivers a tensile strength of 4900 MPa and an elastic modulus of 240 GPa despite its lightweight construction. Its unidirectional continuous fibre arrangement provides ease of design and application in flexural and shear strengthening applications. It is laminated onto reinforced concrete or timber surfaces using FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE epoxy adhesive. It is available in roll format in widths of 50 cm and 100 cm.

Key Benefits

  • Its lightweight construction provides ease of handling and application.
  • High tensile strength (4900 MPa) effectively increases structural capacity.
  • Elastic modulus of 240 GPa ensures minimum deformation under load.
  • Unidirectional fibre arrangement delivers full efficiency in the strengthening direction.
  • Wide widths (50 cm / 100 cm) easily adapt to different project requirements.
  • Provides an economical solution with cost advantages in strengthening projects.

Advantages

  • Lightweight and easy to handle.
  • An economical solution.
  • High mechanical strength.
  • Its unidirectional continuous fibre arrangement provides great ease of design and application in flexural and shear strengthening.

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Surfaces to be treated must be sound, dry, load-bearing, dust-free and clean. The surface must be thoroughly cleaned of all oil, grease, rust and paraffin residues that could impair adhesion. Surface defects must be repaired with structural repair mortars. The surface must then be primed with FOX CARBOND® PRIMER.

  2. 2

    Fabric Cutting

Prior to application, the carbon fibre fabric FOX CARBOND® FIBER 324 must be cut to the dimensions specified in the project.

  3. 3

    First Coat Adhesive Application

One coat of FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE must be applied to the prepared surface.

  4. 4

    Fabric Placement

The carbon fibre fabric must be placed onto the adhesive-coated surface under tension in the fibre direction, then pressed with a roller in the fibre direction to allow the adhesive to be absorbed into the fabric and to remove air voids.

  5. 5

    Second Coat Adhesive Application

The second coat of FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE must be applied to the carbon fibre fabric surface with a roller, ensuring the fabric is laminated between the two coats of adhesive.

  6. 6

    Multi-Layer Application

In multi-layer applications, FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE must be applied with a roller between each layer and the carbon fibre fabric must be pressed with a roller to laminate it within the adhesive.

  7. 7

Sand Broadcasting on Surfaces to be Plastered

Where plastering is required, after the final coat of FOX CARBOND® FIBER 324 application, while the FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE is still wet, sand must be broadcast onto the surfaces to be plastered to create a rough texture.

  8. 8

    Tool Cleaning

Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned immediately with solvent.

Critical

FOX CARBOND® systems must be applied by specialist applicators.

Important

Only prepare as much material as can be used within the working time.

Critical

The application surface must be sound, dry, load-bearing, dust-free and clean. It must be thoroughly cleaned of all oil, grease, rust and paraffin residues.

Important

Store in the original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost. Store between +5°C and +30°C, away from direct sunlight.

Critical

Approaching storage and application areas with open flame is dangerous; these areas must be ventilated.

Important

Wear protective clothing, gloves, goggles and a mask during application.

Critical

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.

Information

Technical data are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the time; lower temperatures extend it.

Important

Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned immediately with solvent.
