Product Description

FOX MORTAR FC188 T is a cement-based, single-component, fibre-reinforced, thixotropic, high-strength structural repair mortar. Thanks to its formulation containing special cement reinforced with mineral aggregates, fibres and polymers, it is reliably used for the repair of concrete load-bearing elements. It complies with EN 1504-3 standard class R4 and is covered under Bayındırlık Poz No: 04.613/3b. It delivers high performance with a compressive strength of ≥45 N/mm² and adhesion to concrete of ≥2.0 N/mm² at 28 days. It is shrinkage-free, requires no primer, and is resistant to chlorides, sulphates and oils. It is applied by trowel after mixing with water only, and can be used in thicknesses ranging from a minimum of 10 mm to a maximum of 40 mm.

Key Benefits

  • With EN 1504-3/R4 class compliance, it can be confidently used in projects requiring technical specifications.
  • Thanks to its high thixotropic structure, it does not sag in vertical and overhead applications.
  • Since it is shrinkage-free, the risk of crack formation in repair areas is minimised.
  • Not requiring a primer reduces application steps, saving labour and time.
  • With rapid strength gain, it can be opened to traffic loads within 24 hours.
  • Its high resistance to chlorides, sulphates and freeze-thaw cycles provides long-lasting protection in aggressive environments.

Advantages

  • Has high compressive strength.
  • Exhibits high thixotropic properties.
  • Shrinkage-free.
  • Mixed with water only, easy to apply.
  • Provides high adhesion to concrete and reinforcement.
  • Waterproof.
  • Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.
  • No primer required.
  • Rapid strength gain.
  • Resistant to chlorides, sulphates and oils.

  • Repair of floor concrete
  • Repair of marine structures
  • Coating of concrete for protection against sulphate and chloride attack

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Surfaces to be repaired must be sound and free from all dust and dirt. Broken surfaces to be repaired should be made as vertical as possible. Water must be drained and removed from excessively wet surfaces and areas with standing water. Dry surfaces should be lightly dampened.

  2. 2

    Mixing

The appropriate amount of water indicated on the packaging is poured into a clean mixing container. FOX MORTAR FC188 T is slowly added to the water while mixing with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm and a suitable mixing paddle for approximately 2–3 minutes until homogeneous. There must be no lumps in the material. After allowing the material to rest for 3–5 minutes during the maturation period, it is mixed again for 1 minute and made ready for application.

  3. 3

    Mixing Ratios

Approximately 4.25±0.25 litres of water should be used per 25 kg/1 bag of FOX MORTAR FC188 T. Approximately 170±10 ml of water should be used per 1 kg of FOX MORTAR FC188 T.

  4. 4

    Application

The prepared mixture is applied in a single coat by trowel, not exceeding 4 cm in thickness. Where greater thickness is required, it should be applied in layers. When a smooth finish is desired, the material is allowed to absorb its water, then water is sprinkled on the surface and it is finished with a wooden or steel trowel. In applications exposed to outdoor conditions, in excessively hot and windy environments, the surface must be protected with wet hessian or curing material for 48 hours.

  5. 5

    Cleaning of Application Tools

Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned immediately with water. Once FOX MORTAR FC188 T has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.

Critical

FOX MORTAR FC188 T must be applied within 30 minutes at +20°C.

Critical

In outdoor applications, the surface must be protected from sunlight, rain, wind and frost for the first 24 hours.

Critical

For the material to complete its curing, the substrate temperature and ambient temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature. The application substrate temperature must be between +5°C and +30°C.

Critical

Must not be used in contact with liquids having a pH value below 5.5.

Critical

A vibrator must never be used while placing the material.

Important

Working and reaction times of cement-based repair mortars are affected by air temperature, humidity and substrate temperatures. High temperatures accelerate hydration and shorten working time; low temperatures extend working time.

Important

Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

When stored correctly at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C, the shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Important

Must be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a cool and dry environment, protected from frost. During short-term storage, a maximum of 3 pallets may be stacked on top of each other. During long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.

Important

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; these areas must be ventilated.

Information

The technical values above are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity conditions. High temperatures shorten the time, low temperatures extend the time.
