Product Description
FOX FASTMORTAR® FC233 is a cement-based, polymer-reinforced, non-shrink, self-levelling, rapid-setting repair and bedding mortar developed for applications requiring high strength in a short time. Defined under Bayındırlık Poz No: 04.613/3c, it complies with class R4 of standard EN 1504-3. The product is mixed with water only and is easily applied by pouring into a pre-prepared formwork. Application thickness can range from 10 mm to 50 mm; it becomes trafficable after 1 hour and achieves full cure in 28 days. At an ambient temperature of +23°C, the mortar has a pot life of 7 minutes and is distinguished by its high compressive strength and high flowability.
Key Benefits
- Can be opened to traffic 1 hour after application; accelerates the repair process and minimises operational downtime.
- Compliant with EN 1504-3/R4 standard, it can be used with confidence in structural repairs.
- Mixed with water only; requires no complex preparation processes, simplifying site application.
- Its self-levelling consistency allows it to be poured into formwork without the need for vibration.
- Non-shrink; reduces the risk of cracking in critical details such as manhole cover bedding, concrete floors and kerb installation.
- Resistant to freeze-thaw effects; provides long-lasting performance suitable for outdoor and harsh climatic conditions.
Advantages
- Gains strength rapidly, can be opened to traffic 1 hour after application, sets quickly.
- Mixed with water only, easily applied by pouring into formwork.
- Has high compressive strength.
- Exhibits high flowability.
- Does not segregate or bleed water.
- Resistant to freeze-thaw effects.
Usage Areas
- Repair and raising of manhole covers and their bedding
- Repair of sewer walls
- Rapid repair of runway and platform concrete
- Repair of concrete floors exposed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic
- Installation of kerbs and paving stones
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
Surfaces to be repaired must be sound and free from all dust and dirt. Broken surfaces to be repaired should be made as vertical as possible. Standing water on surfaces must be drained and removed. Dry surfaces must be dampened.
- 2
Mixing
It is strongly recommended to use only full and unopened bags. The appropriate and clean quantity of water described on the packaging is poured into a clean mixing container. FOX FASTMORTAR® FC233 is added slowly and continuously into the water while mixing with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm and a suitable mixing paddle for approximately 3–4 minutes until homogeneous. No lumps should remain in the material. Consistency must not be adjusted by adding extra water.
- 3
Mixing Ratios
Approximately 3.00–3.50 lt of water should be used for 25 kg (1 bag) of FOX FASTMORTAR® FC233. Approximately 120–140 ml of water should be used per 1 kg of product.
- 4
Application
The prepared mortar should be poured into pre-prepared formwork in a single layer with a thickness of between 10 mm and 50 mm. Formwork can be removed after 15 minutes depending on ambient temperature. For applications thicker than 50 mm, the technical department must be consulted.
- 5
Tool and Equipment Cleaning
Tools and equipment used must be cleaned immediately with water after application. Once FOX FASTMORTAR® FC233 has hardened, it can only be removed from surfaces mechanically.
FOX FASTMORTAR® FC233 must be applied within 7 minutes at +20°C. Care must be taken not to exceed the pot life.
The substrate and ambient temperature must be between +5°C and +30°C. Application must not be carried out outside this range.
Consistency must not be adjusted by adding extra water. The mixing times (3–4 minutes) must be strictly observed before the required consistency checks.
Damaged and opened bags must not be used under any circumstances. It is strongly recommended to mix only full and unopened bags.
For applications thicker than 50 mm, the technical department must be consulted.
When used together with fine aggregate, the materials must be dry-mixed first and then emptied into a bucket of water. The mixing water may be increased by a maximum of 10%.
The working and reaction times of cement-based systems are affected by ambient and substrate temperature and relative humidity. High temperatures shorten the working time; low temperatures extend it.
Dry surfaces must be dampened; standing water on surfaces must be drained and removed.
Opened packaging must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.
The product must be stored in its original packaging at between +5°C and +30°C, in a cool and dry environment, away from direct sunlight and protected from frost. Shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture.
Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
Storage and application areas must be ventilated. Keep away from open flames. Store out of reach of children.
The technical values above are given for conditions of +23°C and 50% relative humidity.
