FOX CORRUGOL FM212 is a single-component, water-based, solvent-free surface retarder developed for the production of exposed aggregate concrete (wash concrete, exposed aggregate concrete). It is reliably used in architectural concrete applications, roughening operations at horizontal construction joints, and on surfaces such as walkways and terrazzo.

Product Description
FOX CORRUGOL FM212 is a single-component, water-based, solvent-free surface retarder developed for the production of exposed aggregate concrete. The product, based on an organic acid compound, retards the normal hydration of cement at the concrete surface, allowing the aggregates to become visible. It is used in cast-in-place or precast concrete for architectural applications (wash concrete, exposed aggregate concrete), for roughening horizontal construction joints without the need for physical abrasion, and for achieving permanently exposed aggregate surfaces. The product can be diluted according to the intended application and requires no pre-mixing; it is ready to use directly.
Advantages
- Retards the normal hydration of cement at the concrete surface (high cement content and temperature reduce the retardation effect). Once retardation is complete, the concrete continues to gain strength.
- The depth of the retarded layer depends on the amount of product applied, the time elapsed before removal of the retarder from the surface, the water and cement content of the mix, and the ambient temperature.
- Reduces the cost of roughening labour.
- Can be diluted according to the intended application.
- Easy to apply.
Usage Areas
- Architectural applications in cast-in-place or precast concrete where aggregates are required to be visible at the surface (wash concrete, exposed aggregate concrete)
- Roughening of fresh concrete surfaces at horizontal construction joints without the need for physical abrasion
- Achieving permanently exposed aggregate surfaces such as walkways and terrazzo
Application Steps
- 1
Preparation
FOX CORRUGOL FM212 requires no pre-mixing; it is ready to use directly. Check the packaging before use.
- 2
Application Timing
If the product is to be applied to a concrete surface, application must be carried out after the bleed water of the freshly placed concrete (FOX DOMINO MORTAR BC) has evaporated from the surface and before the concrete takes its initial set.
- 3
Application
Apply FOX CORRUGOL FM212 to the application surface until a homogeneous layer is formed. If necessary, it can be diluted according to the intended application.
- 4
Removal of the Retarded Layer
Once the retardation period is complete, the retarded layer is removed from the surface to expose the aggregates. The retardation period depends on the amount of product applied, the ambient temperature, and the water/cement content of the mix.
If the product is to be applied to a concrete surface, application must be carried out after the bleed water of the freshly placed concrete has evaporated from the surface and before the concrete takes its initial set.
Application temperature must be between +5°C and +35°C. High temperatures shorten the retardation period; low temperatures extend it.
It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; these areas must be adequately ventilated.
During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.
During storage and application, contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. The product must be stored out of reach of children.
Store in the original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost during winter months.
Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture when stored correctly between +5°C and +30°C. Opened packages can be resealed and used within the shelf life.
For short-term storage, pallets must not be stacked more than 3 high and shipments must follow a first-in, first-out system. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.
The technical values above are given for conditions of +23°C and 50% relative humidity.
