Product Description

FOX BINDER FM125 is a copolymer dispersion-based admixture used to improve adhesion and water impermeability in cement-based mortars and renders. It is classified as a Water Impermeability Chemical Admixture under TS EN 934-2:2013/Table 9.

The product has a modified polymer dispersion structure and is used as an admixture in repair mortars, screed and render applications, surface preparation processes, and bedding mortars. It strengthens the bond between old and new concrete while providing high resistance to chemical and mechanical attack. It contains no corrosion-promoting components, improves resistance to freeze-thaw cycles, and enhances the workability of the mortar.

Advantages

  • Forms a strong and durable bond.
  • Provides excellent adhesion.
  • Achieves high resistance to chemical and mechanical attack.
  • Increases the shrinkage resistance of renders and screeds, minimising cracking.
  • Contains no corrosion-promoting admixtures.
  • Improves resistance to freeze-thaw effects.
  • Enhances workability.

Usage Areas

  • As an admixture in repair mortars
  • As an adhesion admixture in mortars prepared for the repair of screeds and renders, and for improving the bond between old and new concrete
  • As an admixture to improve the adhesion and water impermeability of internal and external renders for water tanks, pools, and treatment plants
  • Preparation of scratch coat renders in screed bedding mortars
  • As an admixture in mortars prepared for laying natural stone, brick, and tile slabs as a surface conditioner prior to render and tile application

Application Steps

  1. 1

Repair Mortar Preparation (≤10 mm Thickness)

Mix 1 part cement with 3 parts sand. Add 2 parts water to 1 part FOX BINDER FM125 to prepare the liquid mixture, then add this to the pre-mixed dry blend to obtain a trowel-consistency mortar.

  2. 2

Repair Mortar Preparation (≥10 mm Thickness)

Mix 1 part cement with 3 parts sand. Add 3 parts water to 1 part FOX BINDER FM125 to prepare the liquid mixture, then add this to the pre-mixed dry blend to obtain a trowel-consistency mortar.

  3. 3

    Render Mortar Preparation

Mix 1 m³ of washed river sand of suitable gradation with 350 kg of cement. Add 120 litres of water to 5 kg of FOX BINDER FM125 to prepare the mixture, then add this to the pre-mixed dry blend to obtain a trowel-consistency mortar. Surfaces must be wetted 12 hours before application; the mortar must be applied to a wet/damp surface.

  4. 4

Screed Primer (PCC) Preparation and Application

Mix 1 part cement with 3 parts river sand. Add 2 parts water to 1 part FOX BINDER FM125 to prepare the liquid mixture and add it to the dry blend. Bring the mixture to a slurry consistency and spread it with a brush to a thickness of 2 mm on a surface pre-wetted 12 hours in advance. Fresh concrete or screed must be applied before the primer dries.

  5. 5

    Screed Mortar Preparation

Mix at least 350 kg of cement into 1 m³ of washed river sand of suitable gradation. Add 110 litres of water to 4 kg of FOX BINDER FM125 to prepare the liquid mixture, then add this to the pre-mixed dry blend and bring to the consistency required for screeding.

  6. 6

    Screed Application

Apply the FOX BINDER FM125-modified screed over the primer (PCC) applied at 2 mm thickness to the surface. Care must be taken to ensure the primer does not dry out. A fresh coat must be applied over any dried primer.

  7. 7

    Bedding Mortar Preparation

Mix 1 m³ of aggregate of suitable gradation with 250 kg of cement, 3 kg of FOX BINDER FM125, and an appropriate amount of water. Spread the prepared modified mortar. Prime the undersides of the stones to be laid with PCC before laying.

  8. 8

    Scratch Coat Preparation and Application

Mix 1 m³ of sand of suitable gradation with 350 kg of cement and 10 kg of FOX BINDER FM125; add water until a slurry consistency is reached. Apply to the surface pre-wetted 12 hours in advance using a spray tool. Allow to dry. Wet the surface before proceeding with render or tile-laying operations.

Critical

Application temperature must be between +5°C and +35°C. Application outside this range must not be carried out.

Critical

Surfaces must be wetted 12 hours before application; mortar containing FOX BINDER FM125 must be applied to a wet/damp surface.

Critical

In screed and primer (PCC) applications, the primer must not be allowed to dry. A fresh coat must be applied over any dried primer.

Important

The product must be stored in its original packaging between +5°C and +30°C, away from direct sunlight and protected from frost. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Important

Pallets must not be stacked on top of one another during long-term storage. For short-term storage, a first-in first-out dispatch system must be applied.

Critical

Open flames near storage and application areas are dangerous. Storage and application areas must be adequately ventilated.

Important

Appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations must be worn during application.

Critical

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
