Product Description

FOX PURSEAL PS600 is a single-component, permanently elastic, waterproof, low-modulus polyurethane-based adhesive and joint sealant. Manufactured with the latest polyurethane technology, it is suitable for interior and exterior applications. It cures with atmospheric moisture. It meets EN 15651-1 F-EXT-INT-CC and EN 15651-4 PW-EXT-INT-CC classifications.

The product is used as a joint sealant and adhesive on horizontal and vertical construction joints, roof gutters, prefabricated panels, water tanks and swimming pools, metal frame connections, aluminium windows and panels, as well as glass, wood, plasterboard, granite and marble surfaces. The product has a density of 1.15 ± 0.03 g/cm³, a surface drying time of 60–90 minutes, and a curing rate of 2 mm/24 hours. The sealant has a movement capability of 25% and retains its elasticity across a service temperature range of -30°C to +80°C. It is supplied in 600 ml sausage (aluminium foil) packaging.

Surface Preparation
Surfaces to be treated must be sound, dry, load-bearing, dust-free and clean. They must be thoroughly cleaned of oil, grease, rust and paraffin residues. Metal surfaces should be sanded if necessary. After degreasing, the surface must be allowed to dry completely. It is recommended to clean concrete surfaces with a wire brush. Surfaces that have absorbed large amounts of oil must be renewed and repaired with FOX EPOMORTAR FC510. If the application surface is concrete, it must be at minimum C25 class; relative ambient humidity must be below 85% and ambient temperature between +15°C and +30°C.

Filling Pores and Voids
On cracked, weak or highly porous concrete surfaces, pores and voids must be filled prior to application to prevent air escaping due to temperature rise from causing blistering in the uncured sealant. Direct application onto unsound substrates is not recommended; in such cases, an appropriate primer should be selected and the substrate primed.

Installing the Backing Rod
A backing rod of appropriate diameter should be inserted into the joint to set the application depth and prevent the sealant from bonding to the joint base. This ensures that the sealant bonds only to the side faces of the joint.

Application
The 600 ml sausage packaging is loaded into a suitable sealant gun. The tip of the packaging is opened, the nozzle is attached and cut at a 45° angle to the desired application width. FOX PURSEAL PS600 should be applied using a manual or pneumatic sealant gun in a continuous, steady flow, ensuring no air pockets remain in the joint and full contact is achieved with the joint side faces. Minimum joint depth is 6 mm and maximum joint width is 25 mm. For joints up to 12 mm wide, a minimum depth of 6 mm must be maintained; for wider joints, a width-to-depth ratio of approximately 2:1 should be applied.

Surface Finishing and Cleaning
Immediately after application, the sealant surface should be smoothed with a suitable spatula. Uncured sealant that has overflowed outside the joint must be cleaned immediately using a clean cloth lightly dampened with mineral spirits. Cured material can only be removed by mechanical means. Tools and equipment used must be cleaned with solvent immediately after application.

Critical

FOX PURSEAL PS600 should not be applied at temperatures below +5°C or above +35°C.

Important

In cold weather, packaging should be kept at approximately +20°C before application.

Critical

Must not be used on bituminous surfaces, natural rubber, EPDM, PE, HDPE, PTFE (Teflon), polysulphide, or surfaces that may release oils, plasticisers or solvents.

Important

Moisture and vapour transmission from the substrate may cause blistering in the sealant. Care must be taken to avoid air pockets during application.

Critical

The product must be protected from rain, water, alcohol, solvents and similar chemicals during the curing period.

Important

It has no resistance to alcohol, organic acids, concentrated alkalis and acids, or chlorinated (hydrocarbon) fuels.

Important

It is recommended that opened sausage packaging be used within the same day.

Important

The product must be stored in its original unopened packaging in a dry and cool environment (between +5°C and +25°C), protected from sunlight and frost. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Critical

Open flames near storage and application areas are dangerous. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.

Critical

Protective clothing, gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Information

Pallets must never be stacked on top of each other during storage. Shipments must follow a first-in, first-out system.

Information

The technical values above are given at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the times; lower temperatures extend them.
